So, although Ragnarok isn't definitively my favourite Marvel movie, it is up there.
Important to note is that Ragnarok being rated 96% does not mean critics think it is a 96/100 film. It just means 96% of people would recommend it. If i recall correctly, the average rating was around 7.7/10.
It was a fun way to kill 2 hours but in the end, it was just that.
It wasn't as compelling and thrilling as the Captain America sequels or emotionally enriching as Spider-Man: Homecoming.
I maintain that Winter Soldier is the best MCU movie to date.
Ragnarok is riding high right now, but I don't expect it will remain there, especially since there's only 110 reviews in at the time of me writing this, theres 2-3 times that number yet to come in.
I really wish everyone would stop judging the overall percentage and instead judge the average rating. Thor: Ragnarok's average rating is a 7.6 out of 10 with 110 reviews. Winter Soldier's average rating is also a 7.6 but with 271 reviews. The first Iron Man beats both of them with a 7.7 based on 268 reviews. I think looking at that score helps generate more reasonable discussions.

Don’t care about the rating but it’s definitely one of the best MCU movies and easily in my Top 5 CBM.
It'll drop once the floodgates open on the American reviews but as K4tzm said, the overall average is very different from the overall percentage on Rotten Tomatoes. Your own opinion is what matters most and as for me, it was a fun and enjoyable but not particularly compelling or even epic movie.
Isn't GotG 99%? Originally it was a 100%. So why is everyone saying Ragnarok is the higest rated.
Did you even Google before you posted this?

Maybe it could "help" on this pointless discussions, but RT is NOT exactly a source for comic book fans show how their preferences portrayals are superior to other comic book fans preferences portrayals.
RT objective is to give an indication to the audiences of how many reviewers liked the movie, as a big movie fan that watches a lot o movies per year that is also how i look at this site, and that is also how the movie industry looks at it when they (for example) make their box office predictions for the domestic box office.
It really doesn't matter the average rating of movies like "Jurassic World" or "Beauty and the Beast", what is really important is not be rotten.
Its also important to remember that RT its not a worldwide sample of reviews, far from that (its basically an US sample of reviews), for example the movie Rogue One (a very recent release) critical reception was very very average at best in several European countries, yet RT says otherwise...
@righteous300: its on the internet now
Remember to look at the rating not the %.
I'd say yes and no as it was better than most of the Marvel films but Winter Soldier to me is untouchable.

Winter Soldier is the best movie in the MCU in my opinion. Don't get me started on Winter Soldier.
It's going to drop.
Here is a really good review (spoiler free) of the movie that even acknowledges and understands that Thor should never be mundane... One of the few times that i thought a reviewer was also speaking "Asgardian", i mean he knew what he was talking about.... And not much people get what Thor is all about, even the current comics writer doesn't get it...
A quote that some people should read...
"Also keeps the heart of Thor character intact"
People say it had too much comedy in it but two previous Thor movies tried to add some more serious tone and they were both kinda bad. I love DB so mix of comedy, great action in beetwen and a bit of seriousness is my jam. I still liked Iron Man a bit more but Ragnarok was one of the best MCU movies for sure which is kinda dissapointing for me as i wanted Spidey to be better (not saying Homecoming was bad).
Is this doing well critically then?
I just watched it, thought it was in the bottom half of Marvel movies to be honest.
Its kind of all over the place, though it is entertaining.
The percentage is NOT the actual rating. It's just the percentage of reviewers that gave it a 6/10 or higher.
THIS.
People need to realize how this works.
@babydarkseid: whats ur favourite mcu film
@amcu: it can also go up
@amcu: it can also go up
That's possible but isn't it unlikely? I thought movies normally drop as more and more reviews pore in.
@amcu: it’s gone up and back down 4 times Yesterday it went up to 98 with 138 critics at one point
@saberscar223: Okay you are right then.
I saw Thor: Ragnarok later than all of my friends, and when I asked them how the movie was, they all said that it was really good. And with none of them loving Marvel comics as much as me, I assumed that it was going to be amazing for a hardcore fan like me. But when I finally saw it, keeping in mind all of my friends' praise of the movie, I was kinda disappointed.
Of course, it was a great movie. I just thought that it was going to be legendary, a new MCU classic. I think Thor spent way too long on Sakar. I wish he would have found a way back to Asgard much sooner, and not just at the very end for a grand battle. I also didn't think the humor was that great. There were some pretty funny moments, like Hulk just being Hulk, but I wouldn't think the humor was anything noteworthy if so many people around me didn't hype it up. Leave that to Spidey and Deadpool.
Also, I wish Thor had better fighting CGI. His best fighting CGI is with his hammer, but he is so much more than just Mjolnir. I know he's neither Superman nor Kryptonian, but I wish the MCU would show him fighting like Supes vs Zod's goons in Kansas. Thor is so powerful, the MCU just portrays him as a sluggish gladiator when it comes to fighting.
