    Thor vs. Mangog, round 1

Balder, Sif, the Lost Legion, Karnilla, Ego, the Colonizers, the Recorder, the Warriors Three, Loki and of course Thor. This issue is the opening bell for the Ragnarok storyline. Mangog, a being with the strength of a billion, billion of his now dead race has come to lay waste to Asgard.

Jack Kirby shows Asgard's defense again resembles high technology and the interference from alien races here seems more sci-fi than supernatural, proving the old Arthur C. Clark axiom once again, 'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic' and suggesting that the Asgardians may just be a highly advanced race rather than a mystical one.

If this story arc turns out to be as cool as the set-up makes it look, we are in for quite a ride!
