Beautiful Blob & Beast's Eye Feet

    Overview
Graduation episode!!  Erm issue. This was a cool little story. Lots of character advancement. Xavier rather creepily goes on some sort of random secret mission. (I think its a safe assumption that it has to do with Jean that or he is trolling iceman again) Cerebro is introduced and so is one of the many Cafe/Coffee houses that the 05 would spend time chillaxin at. Oh Zelda! Coffee girl? i think Iceman had a crush on her. I always remembered her because her name is Zelda! Oh, also important, is before he leaves, Xavier assigns Cyclops as future leader, we more expansion of characters characterization. Cyclops reluctance for what Xavier has selected him for, his willingness to suggest what he feels might be better candidates. Jean's attachment to Cyclops. Beast being a bit silly, Warren also having feelings for Jean. Jean failing and fainting and being carried. Xavier being mysterious and creepy. Magneto being a jerk to the brotherhood. Main star of the issue to me though, was Blob. Fred Dukes. He got a moment of being a badass, and he saved the day, and he had the perfect exit, really I think, for his character type. I mean, he is sort of a joke character, but this issue, he commanded a lot of respect and he seemed very real. Especially I think for a comic released in 60's.

Basically Blob does a heroic deed. Thus proving himself to an extent that the X-Men actually ask him to join? He is tired of fighting though, he just wants a place to belong? I think, maybe perhaps, Cyclops words to Blob are intended to be the ones the reader is meant to empathize with? Cyclops asserting that there are mutants that hate being mutants and so turn away from who they are... Blob responds that he has no hate. He is just weary. He lives as a sideshow freak, and so he'll die as one. He just wants to be where he feels he belongs. I think, I'll always remember this moment. I almost feel sad that Blob was dragged back into the turmoil of X-Books. As a character, I found what he said and what he wanted to do, very profound. I don't agree necessarily with his point, but its still an interesting scene and moment.

    Random Musings
Xavier is such a troll... actually there were so many random, hilarious single panels in this issue, I might skip random musings and throw in more moments.

    Worth Reading?
Some pretty important character developments occur in this issue. Cyclops fans, might like to read this, Blob fans definitely should, plus of course fans of redheads fainting all the time...

Another sub-par issue of the X-Men here. The best thing about this issue is that the X-Men graduate, and Professor X chooses Cyclops to be their new leader. What follows is a pretty standard battle with the Magneto and his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, with their latest recruit, The Blob. But there's a lot of problems here - during a fight with Magneto, The Blob hits his head and just happens to remember that his memory was erased and decides to join Magneto. The X-Men completely blow their secret ...

      The Graduation Evacuation 0

In the six previous books, there has apparently been enough time passed for the X-Men to fully go through prep school AND their specialized mutant power training. Ridiculous. I really wish they hadn't just skipped forward for no apparent reason. The just lost the ability to let us watch them grow. Now, if you're reading All-New X-Men in 2012/2013 then this little skip in time is perfect, because the X-Men from the 1960's are pulled into 2012 by Beast. Not sure that all of those dates are accurat...
