Captain Bintang`s Night-In-With-A-DVD Movie Review 1

I`d been looking forward to this movie for ages and just missed it at the cinema. So, over the moon when it came out on disc, and I wasn`t disappointed. Excellent. The Wolfman is a retelling of the famous 1940s werewolf movie. Benicio Del Toro plays Lawrence Talbot, an actor who returns to his ancestral home in England to investigate the brutal death of his brother - apparently, savaged by an escaped lunatic... There is obviously alot more to the death than meets the eye, and there`s plenty of m...

My Date With The Wolfman 0

Ok so EVERYONE is into vampires and there's nothing wrong with that because I am too. But there comes a time when you need a little more excitement, and boy did "The Wolfman" pump me up. Yea, we get some werewolf action in movies like, Underworld and Twilight but this is something entirely different.  This is WOLFMAN baby! Between the gothic scenery and the impeccable acting, "The Wolfman" was a great escape and much needed update. Howling Good Fun 0

I saw this movie not really sure what to expect from it. I love the classic monster movies and I usually don't like remakes, but this one was pretty good. I saw the directors cut but I'm not really sure what the differences were. The plot was similar to that of the original Wolfman movie. It revolves around Lawrence Talbot traveling to visit his father. While at a Gypsy camp he is attacked by  werewolf and is bitten. He survives the attack but notices the changes in his body. He recovers from hi...

Good Not Great 0

This is a bit of a confused movie. It seems to be wanting to be a character piece, A horror movie where the scares come mostly from your care for the characters. yet it also wants to be a viceral gore flick. Well, it seems to be able to do both competently, but not exactly well.I can not say anything bad about the performances. There is a stellar cast here, and everyone involved steps up to the plate. The trouble is with the uneven direction, that has you digging nails into a chair in some sc...

Worthy Remake 0

My review is of the *unrated* version - I do not know how that version differs from the theatrical release, so please bear that in mind. Now to the review - I for one see this as a very worthy sequel to the original Wolfman (which is one of the best of the Universal monsters series). It features great performances all around - and particularly by Anthony Hopkins as the elder Talbot. And while Benecio Del Toro is a curious casting choice, and certainly a far cry from Lon Chaney Jr., he's not bad ei...
