    Great mix of genres

I've been catching up on the Walking Dead trades lately to prepare for the upcoming show. It opens up with the survivors living in the prison getting used to life there even more. The plot then gets taken in a new direction by a helicopter crash without sight of the prison grounds. This survivors send a group to investigate. The way the story is written is like combining the best elements of zombie with the added of prison drama and further p.o.w storylines. This way of adding on additional themes like the prison setting keep the comic fresh and exciting, because it allows the walking dead to explore the workings of human drama in different settings instead of slowly decaying in a zombie apocalypse. In this trade it shows just how dark the zombie outbreak has turned some people. It spices up the plot if you were getting bored of the prison and sets up future events nicely

This review was originally posted on my website Imagination Centre (here). The Walking Dead has been a series that I have enjoyed for a few years now, also having enjoyed the TV series that spawned from it. Due to the most recent season coming out on Blu-ray and DVD recently, as well as the fact that the series itself has reached it's ten year anniversary I thought I'd go through my graphic novels from the start, reliving the events that Rick and the group have went through over the last ten year...
