"Happiness.", but apparently for only 6-pages!
Not everything is as it seems!
The Good
Six-pages of peace and happiness is quite amazing to see. However, after being amazed to see what Rick and his survivors have done for themselves in Alexandria, I was even more interested in seeing three survivors take on talking walkers!
However, nothing is as it seems in this series! Robert Kirkman did a great job at stirring up my interest in what happens next! I have always enjoyed how Kirkman gives the reader this false hope of "Everything is going to be alright." and then throws a curveball and proves otherwise. It turns out there is a new group dressing in Walker skin. (Gross much?) Still though, this seems to be a killer tactic to use and I want to see how Robert Kirkman plays this thing through and how it will effect Rick and his Survivors. Robert Kirkman is a masterful storyteller and his writing, plus Charlie Adlard's artwork, make an unbeatable team.
The Bad
My only problem with this issue is not knowing what entirely is going on. (Which has its pros and cons, but let's focus on the cons.) Not knowing what all has happened since the Negan story arc puts a pretty big dampener on my reading experience in this issue. Things have obviously changed (i.e. everyone is older and Rick and his survivors live on Alexandria) but that is the extent of my knowledge of all that has happened. Not knowing isn't all that bad, as because of this issue, I am interested in seeing what all is going to happen in the issues to come and will want to read it issue-by-issue.
The Verdict
4 out of 5. If you are interested in reading The Walking Dead I suggest picking up this issue as you'll be interested and confused enough to keep reading, and possibly pick up prior issues.
