Against the Death Commando
This issue is more about pure action than dialogues and narrative construction, letting words become punches, shots, airborne rescues, teke strikes, kicks ninja style. Claremont gives up a lot of room fo Tan to operate, as he creates very nice battle scenes in Chicago. The Shiar Empire wants Rachel Grey dead and they won´t stop until this goal is reached, what can be seen by the Captain´s decision to eliminate her, no matter the costs (even if it means killing his own troops) and it´s up for the X-Men to stop them and saving Rachel´s life (who at least is thinking more clear, since the desire for killing and revenge was washed away). This was a good chance to see the X-Men´s fighting skills as a group: they coordinate themselves in two branches, using Nightcrwaler and Bishop as field leaders, and they are quite good at it. This issue was also nice for showing Cannonball´s weakest (a railgun). The bad part is that after Rachel and Bettsy saved the day, there was no explanation if the Death Commando surrundered or lost the fight, since it wasn´t show, what was a pity to have such a nice issue spoiled by a bad ending.
