A depowered Storm falls victim to elements. In her delirium, she is visited by her teammates. Will she find the strength necessary to live or will she give up and die?!
After Losing her powers, storm traveled to south Africa in search of herself. In her travels she came across a wrecked bus, where she met a young woman by the name of Shani who is with child and near death. Storm saves Shani from the wreckage and the two venture out to get her to her destination, of the Shani Tribe. The road to the Shani tribe is long, and when they finally make it they are extremely fatigued. Storm collapsed due to exhaustion. when she is awakened by the elder, and leader of the tribe, MjNari, he explained to her that Shani had gone into labor but her baby would not come. Storm rushed to Shani's side and helps her deliver the child, but it is yet still born. Storm did all she could to revives, and succeeded.
MjNari congratulated them, and began to make his way outside where the music of celebration had changed to a music of mourning. Storms followed after MjNari and asked him where he was going, and he replied saying "I think you know."
It was the Shani peoples tradition that when a new life came into the world, the very old would make room for the very young. Storm followed him to the outskirts of the village while he explained to her the history of their people.
Initially they lived off the land, and life was hard. Then when they got the technology to better support their people they grew arrogant, and proud. eventually no matter how much fertilizer was used, the ground would not produce, they could not afford the fuel to power their machines. Many Died.
MjNari being the elder found the balance that only a set number of people could survive with what their tribe had to offer in food, and land, so when a new life was born the elderly would sacrifice themselves. Storm tried to talk him out of it, but he tlls her that it is the only way. Storm stayed with him till her died and gave him a proper barial.
"And yet though he is gone, I still hear his voice. -'Somewhere on these plains it is said, countless ages ago, the human race began. Now two great cultures crash headlong into each other. The very old against the very new. The one must give way for the other for that is natures way. But at the same time it's wisdom and experience must teach lest youth and immaturity bring about unwitting catastrophe. Technology is not inherently bad, merely the careless and stupid use of it. Neither tradition is wholly good, if it blinds us to ways of making our lives better and happier. A bridge needed between these two halves, a synthesis, a blend, a person who is both one and the other, who’s mind comprehends and who’s hands command the machines, yet who's eyes and soul look upon them with the wisdom of the ages." - MjNari
Storm then realized then that he was talking about her. She returned to the Shani people, and becomes the godmother of Shani's son, and named him MjNari in Honor of her friends.
