Surprisingly good!
I wasn't sure if this was going to be just a hyped book marketed to the 18-35 crowd the same way as Hollywood movie just because of Gerard Way's rock n' roll success. I had read several articles about his dreams of bringing this to fruition and his passion impressed me.
The artwork is stylized with a hint of childish likeness as if a Saturday morning cartoon storyboard was laid in front of you. Lovely heavy inking gives a goth's touch without being uber darkedy-dark-vampy. And we all know Dave Stewart colors are always on the mark; he's won enough awards that he doesn't need to prove anything more.
But, I admit, the story is intriguing -- and there's a chimp and possible gorilla body transplant for crying out loud! You know you want to love this book!
