You know what? I liked the opening. It was weird at first, like it was actually supposed to have a message, but after the kid dunking the frame art into the toxic waste vat everything just got hilarious.
The Simpsons
Team » The Simpsons appears in 793 issues.
Springfield's own family. It's an animated TV series & "comic" by Matt Groening. This family consists of Marge, Maggie, Bart, Lisa, and Homer. But don't forget about Grandpa.
The Saddest Simpsons Opening Ever
Wow, im use to them mocking FOX because they usually take a jab at them every 2 episodes or so, but this was like wtf man. It literally took me on a emotional roller coaster I started out laughing and soon entered a state of wow this sort of depressing then laughter again because it went on for so long and then I saw the unicorn collapse and was like damn, what followed was me and my friends giving it a standing ovation, yup the Simpsons still got IT
Just to clarify, Banksy WROTE the Couch Gag and drew the shots he thought would work but in order for it to ACTUALLY work, his sketches needed to be fleshed out into working storyboards by a storyboard artist. It was also NOT directed by him but by veteran Simpsons Director Bob Anderson. All boards where sent to Banksy for his suggestions.
How do I know this stuff? Because I was the one that storyboarded the Couch Gag for two week under the scrutiny of the producers. The Couch Gag that finally aired was far less racist than the version I boarded based on Banksy's sketches (which is disappointing).
if the vid didnt work ( didnt for me yesterday so i watched the episode on hulu.but heres the opeing from hulu.
also from http://www.deadline.com/2010/10/the-simpsons-goes-dark-with-banksy-bit/
" very cool (and disturbing), Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall-style dark opening for The Simpsons last night by British street artist Banksy. It features overworked Chinese workers (plus a Panda and an Unicorn) slaving away in a dungeon, making The Simpsons series and related merchandise. Giving the scathing satire of the Simpsons' industry machine in it, I believe Banksy's comment in the British media that "his storyboard led to delays, disputes over broadcast standards and a threatened walk out by the animation department."
always wondered how they got their dvds... an now we know!
It's fairly obvious that the opening is trying to make americans aware of the sad truth on why the products you're buying from China are are so cheap.(Apart from the Unicorn and Panda) Judging from most comments here it was didn't work.
I think it was more of a joke on 20th Century Fox than The Simpsons, it was sad, but I laughed at the end of the opening with the 20th Century Fox logo surrounded by barbed wire like a prison.
This is really quite depressing, I live near Bristol in England and there is loads of his stuff on all the walls.
A few of my favourites

Almost this.
And also the fact that many of people don't know, don't care... and simply. don't. wan't. to.

There's enough curiosity about it that I decided to write a long post on my blog about my experience:

The short answer is that they took out a scene where the little boys arms melt off from the toxic waste and they changed the designs of the Koreans to look more Korean. Originally they looked Chinese.
" @Shatterstar:Sounds like a cool project to work on, thanks for sharing that.
