So what's the big deal? Blu-Ray? Why should you buy it? Well, the DVD version of the season contains 21 episodes on 4 discs and one special feature called, "The Twentieth Anniversary Special Sneak Peak by Morgan Spurlock” Morgan Spurlock is that critically acclaimed director of Super Size Me. The DVD is going to cost you $49.98. The Blu-Ray has everything that the DVD has but only on 2 discs, and it will cost you $59.99. The blu-ray copy is $10 more for pretty much the same stuff. So why buy the Blu-Ray? Here's why. You may not believe me but the sound and picture quality are a lot better than traditional DVD. Yes, even for animation. Case in point: I own JLA Season one on DVD. When it came out on Blu-Ray, I picked it up too, and it blew me away. The surround sound wasn't as good as Band of Brothers on Blu-Ray, but it worked pretty well, way better than any other traditional DVD. The animation was incredibly crisp and the colors were very bright. In the end, I was very happy buying JLA Season 1 on Blu-Ray and plan on doing so from now on with all animated series I watch from now on, including this one. Blu-Ray is definitely worth it. The only real downside is that it costs $10 more, but if you own an HDTV and a Blu-Ray player, you can afford to toss down $10 more on a series. We’ve been watching The Simpsons since 1990, but soon you’ll see the antics of America’s most outrageous family like never before. On January 12th, 2010, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment
will release The Simpsons: Season 20 on DVD and, for the first time ever, on Blu-ray.
In closing, buy it on Blu-Ray. If you don't have a HDTV or a Blu-Ray player, buy those also. In seriousness, it is totally worth it, ESPECIALLY for animation.
