    Simply Legendary

This is simply one of the greatest single issues in the history of comics. And to think its just the start of Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run.

The issue is told from Florinic Man's , aka Dr Woodroe's perspective. Swamp Thing has been captured and it is up to the Dr to do a thorough examination of Swampy and figure out what he is.

We are taken on a journey as his autopsy begins. The Dr learns as much as possible about Swamp Thing, including but not limited to his internal organs and their similarities and differences to humans.

He eventually comes to the discovery that Swamp Thing is not dead. And is not something that can be defeated by bullets. Swamp Thing is merely dormant, like many plant life during the cold.

However he is nevertheless fired because he isnt' telling the General what he wants to hear. Before he makes his exit however, he heats the room where Swamp Thing is being kept...

Naturally, Alec wakes up and is pissed and exacts both his and the Doctor's revenge on the General.

If you're worried this review has spoiled things for you. Don't worry. Its irrelevant. What I've written here is nothing but a poor summary compared to the way this issue is written. I seriously can't express enough how awesome it is to read this. Take your time with this one and enjoy every word and every panel.

Speaking of panels. For something that came out in the early 80's this art work is amazing.

If for some reason you don't like Swamp Thing and don't want to read the entire Moore's run...do yourself a favor and AT LEAST read this issue. Its something every comic fan should read at least once.

What a morbid and great tale by the master Alan Moore with spectacular art by Steve Bissett and so amazing colors by Tatjana Wood. I was impressed by the quality of the art in this comic book, considering it´s the year of 1984. Bissette´s style is fantastic, how he organizes his frames and makes us surge and plunge deep into Moore´s narrative. Alan Moore gives an incredible story about a man Dr. Woodrue/Floronic Man) trying to discover the origin of the Swamp Thing, working for a man (General Su...
