Lucien Gates is doing his best to adapt to his new powers and heroic identity as The Ray – but between giant monsters attacking San Diego and meeting his girlfriend's strict parents, things are not going so well. Someone is definitely behind these attacks and perhaps even Lucien's gaining his abilities. He'd better hope he can solve that mystery before his life is completely ruined.

I love this mini more and more every issue that goes on. It’s what any superhero book should be (or at least a teen superhero book), if it was going to be this good it should had been part of the new 52 instead of a mini (let’s be honest, many tittles right now do not deserve to be around when fun and unique ones end up being just minis). And what does the new Ray face against in this issue? Giant flying blue devil rays, English speaking aliens that kidnap women and his girlfriend's parents!! Wh...

Yes... He is an idiot 0

We continue this truly excellent miniseries with The Ray fighting big ass flying Stingrays. The action is really solid and Lucien's dialogue is really funny just like it was last time. Then we get the story of how Lucien royally screwed up with meeting his girlfriends parents. It was previously established that The Ray could bend light to change his appearance. It was also previously established that his girlfriend Chanti's parents had a problem with her dating anyone who wasn't Indian like them...

Meteorite Bugs with Heels On 0

THE GOODThe art is fantastic. I believe they were going for "50's Horror Film" as the theme, especially with the use of that font in the bottom right of the cover. I have to say, most of the issue was hokey and tame just like a 50s horror film, so I guess they hit their mark.I have enjoyed the way they reveal his various powers to the audience. It feels like we are learning his powers, right along with him - not exactly subtle, but it works. I was especially surprised to see that he has mastered...
