I have to admit that when I first heard about SyFy doing a television show on The Phantom, I didn't have high hopes. I've always been intrigued by the character when I saw him in the daily comic strips.
The big question is will a guy running around in a purple suit going to work? I actually kind of liked the 1996 live-action movie with Billy Zane. I seem to recall they did a decent job on it. I haven't seen it since so it could be that my memory is playing tricks on me and it was simply too cheesy. Is the time right for a new interpretation?
As you can see from the image to the left from Phantomsite.net, they have updated his costume a bit. I can't say that it looks extremely spectacular but it is an improvement from the costume Billy Zane had to wear. At least it's more believable. Check out the trailer that Bruce Vain pointed me to:
