A cosmic being in charge of maintaining the multiverse in balance. He was a main character in Crisis on Infinite Earths. After the original crisis, he was split into 52 individual Monitors. Recently, he has merged into one Monitor once more.
Can anyone explain to me the link between COIE Monitor and the multiple monitors in COIE? If he was born on OA does that mean he is within the Multiverse and not from without? Or was he a monitor himself just like Dax Novu? I really can't wrap my head around this.

I'm curious where all the the other Monitors come into effect? Like Mandrakk, Dax Novu etc. I'm assuming they came after the Monitor and Anti-Monitor? The Monitor (the originial in COIE) was the first, who'm then the AM split from him as his counterpart?
