    Review: Invincible Iron Man #502

Doctor Otto Octavius is still holding Tony Stark, and New York hostage unless Tony can heal Otto's brain damage in part two of "Fix Me"

    The Good

I really do like seeing other hero's villains in different books, and I'm enjoying the history between Otto and Tony in these past two issues. It really brings the Marvel Universe together as a whole. Aside from that, Pepper Potts as a hero has been one of the best things added to this book in years. She may feel a bit like a sidekick, but she's always been at Tony's side and now that she has a fraction of the power that Tony's had over the years, it just feels right. I love the page layouts in this issue. There's more panels than normal on each page and it really heightens the sense of urgency in the book. Even though there's lots of dialogue to read, the pace is very quick. As always, the art and writing are great in this book, even if the story isn't the best out of the bunch.

    The Bad

That being said, this is probably the weakest storyline of this series so far. I've never been the biggest fan of the Spider-Man villains, so these past two issues have been a bit of a let down. I've been enjoying the series so much more when it deals with some of the fears the American people and government have had over the past decade: terrorism and fighting back. This story doesn't really bring anything new to the table.

    The Verdict - Borrow

It's a good issue, but my least favorite storyline of this series. If you're a big Spider-Man villain fan, you'll love this run of Iron Man. For everyone else, it feels a bit distant from where the rest of the series has been going. Don't drop the book, by any means, but you may want to pass on this issue and storyline.

Cover I liked the cover because it did not mislead you because this was really what the whole story was about and the art is the same art as it is the comic. This is a good thing because the art in this series is one of my favorites. Story Doctor Octopus needs Tony’s help and if Tony does not help a bomb will go off to destroy New York.  When Tony offers to get Dr. Octopus a doctor Dr. Octopus starts the bomb and Iron Man only has six minutes to save New York. In the mean time Pepper is hol...

And high up above and down below 0

This issue is a lot faster paced than the first, which is not surprising as most of it involves a skirmish between Electro and Sandman versus Pepper.  This moves the issue and story along at a decent pace, but the moments between the Doctor and Tony are where the real weight of the story rests.  There is even not as much plot here, just the dialogue adds much to the characterizations of both and creates a rivalry between the two where no such rivalry existed before.  Often times when a villain o...
