“FUN COUPLES!” On Super Bowl Sunday, John Stewart and Katma Tui get married in Detroit; After the couple leave on their honeymoon, the team splits up to take care of personal issues; Star Sapphire and Hector Hammond attempt to kill Hal Jordan by draining all his ring's power!
Last issue John Stewtart asked Katma Tui to marry him, and she agreed and now a week or so later, the pair are married in Detroit on Superbowl Sunday. A date they picked to minimize publicly, which didn't work perfectly as reported showed up at the church anyway. The event is shown on the CBS news covered by Dan Mather, much to the distain of Tawny Young, who believed Stewart was her man and the story should have been hers to report on.
In space the Earthbound Green Lantern teams discusses going their sperate ways for a while. Stewart and Katma Tui go on their honeymoon on "an asteroid they had turned into a Garden World for Replikon and his children" (Green Lantern #193 - Dead Ringer). Salaak and Ch'P go to Africa to see Dr. Ub'x and check on his evolutionary experimental research. Kilowog opts to check out Nicaragua and their communist form of government. Which leaves Hal and Arisia to fly off to Hawaii and have some alone time.
Unknown to the Green Lanterns, Star Sapphire and Hector Hammond are hiding in orbit above Earth. Their latest plan is to work together to take down Hal and then the Green Lantern Corps itself.
Back on an Hawaiin beach, Hal and Arisia discuss life and the universe, but when Arisia mentions how Hal reminds her of her dead father, Hal gets cold and distance, an act that causes Arisia to go for midnight stroll alone. On her walk she is ambushed by Star Sapphire and Hector, who paralyze her and take over her mind.
The next morning, Hal wakes up to an odd Arisia who is just staring at him. Then later Arisa's ring starts to act weird. She explains that she needs to go home to Graxos and drink some Frangisand, a mineral that her people digest to get their growth and powers under control. Hal agrees and offers to call the remaining Green Lanterns but Arisia, tells him that is not necessary.
Hal not knowing that Arisia is mind controlled agrees and charges his ring in Arisia power battery and the pair fly off. In space Arisia all of sudden flies off leaving Hal alone in space, his ring then warns him of low power, but when it tries to charge again in Arisia Power Battery it disappears, revealing to be an illusion.
Hal ring then loses power and making Hal explode in the vacuum of space, much to the delight of Star Sapphire and Hector.
