razzatazz's The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Man #4 - Glasnost review

    Nonsense Agent

The ongoing story about the origins of the Firestorm Protocol continue here, but unfortunately neither in a coherent, logical or engaging way.  The interesting thing about the original Firestorm is that his villain lineup was actually a decent collection for a rogues gallery, and that none of his enemies were really very much like him.  The problem here is that most of the antagonists in this story are being set up as clones of Firestorm.  So there is the Russian Firestorm, the Quraci Firestorm and so on, none of whom are particularly engaging to read about as it seems like everything is coming from the same book of villain creation.  So many of the great villains throughout the history of the medium served as such interesting antagonists because they are very much different from the heroes, not because they are pretty much the same.  So this series has some catching up to do with the overall concept.  I don't think all is lost here, just that it would be interesting to see Killer Frost or someone like that at some point.

Firestorm hasn't been one of my favorite series. Sure, I've only read three issues, but now I have issue #4. I think this is the issue that made me change my mind about this series.   THE GOOD: I really like the art. I've seem Yildiray Cinar work before and I absolutely love it. I think that this is a certain feeling to it and I really enjoy looking at the pages. The story is what made me change my mind about this series. In this issue we get a whole lot of information about what was going on in...
