Looks like Barry Allen is going to get a new love interest in the second season of The Flash. According to TVLine, the CW show is casting for season two and one of those characters they're looking for is a major recurring role for "Wendy."

Who is Wendy though? Well, she's described as fun and funny and the romantic interest for Barry Allen. She works for Central City PD and she's smart with a scientific mind. The casting sheet reads "“Think ‘Felicity Smoak’ from Arrow."

When The Flash returns, she will appear in episode 2, probably after the blackhole of doom story is resolved, left over from the season 1 finale.

Would be more interesting if they give him a new costume.

I don't think Barry falling in love with a new costume would be believable

Ugh, romance stuff. If you're gonna do that just give Felicity to The Flash crew so I don't have to watch her in Arrow anymore. She's way more likeable when she hangs out with the Central City cast anyway.

Oh god I hope this doesn't lead to another season with a forced love triangle. It was so bad that I literally skipped nearly every Barry, Eddie and Iris moment in season one when they discussed their love life that only tween age girls would like.

Anyway, as long as it's not Linda Park again. Just goes to show you that DC must really hate pre-New 52 Wally West as The Flash. They are taking SO MUCH away from him and bastardizing his character. Who thinks Ezra Miller should have been playing Wally?

Why do so many people hate the costume? It's fine, just perhaps could be brighter red but outside of that it's practical for the show.

They should just bring in Patty, unless Wendy will be the "Patty" character of the show.

This. The Arrow/Flash writers can't write romance. It's kind of sad that on every show so far the love interest has always been the least popular character (I dare you to find someone who likes S1&2 Laurel, S3 Felicity or Iris).

A lot of people here mentioned Patty, though. It's always possible that Wendy is just a placeholder name.

Please don't make this show a love octagon, it's good, come on CW ffs.

My point was that all the CW love interests have been bad or annoying, I'd rather they cut most of it out or at least work on the ones they have so that they aren't so bleh.

@goonage: I dislike Iris because her presence felt force, her entire contribution to the show so far is being part of a boring love triangle and it looks like that trend might continue unless they do the Arrow season 2 thing where she blames Barry for Eddie's death. As for Felicity she was never a good/flesh out character just an archetype, the writers admitted last season was an attempt to develop her. They somehow thought the best way to do this was to make her a weeping love interest.

Well looks like the WB didn't learn their lesson. Making Felicity Oliver's love interest made season 3 HORRIBLE. Now they want to focus on giving The Flash a damn love interest. The demographic for shows like the Flash, Arrow, Marvel Agents of Shield is 18 to 49 males. Males don't give or even want to see love interests. We like fighting, drugs, booze, guns, voluptuous women leading to one night stands or just side candy not a focal point. Arrow is gonna die if they don't kill off the Oliver Felicity crap because your biggest audience doesn't want to see The Arrow going on dates and give flowers we want to see him shooting people with arrows and getting into epic battles.

As long as it isn't Patty, I'm okay. She SUCKS.

This does seem similar to Patty. In reference to the Flash/Barry, I'm not interested in the love interests/triangles/drama. I would rather see either Barry single or Barry/Iris together. I don't buy into the whole give a character all these love interests to eventually lead to the real one. They already have characters like Bruce and Ollie for that. Barry is more interesting because he has only one love interest.

I love the idea of Iris being the third wheel for once she was leading Barry and Eddie along for the whole season -_-.

I'm thinking Wendy Harris. I'm already betting on the Calculator being Felicity's father and an antagonist on Arrow season four. Wendy Harris being introduced to Flash as Felicity's half-sister isn't inconceivable.
