    There where rumours of him be The Other, but seeing how he can regenerate i don't think that's true any more and i doubt we'll ever get to know his true name.

    I expect when or if they end the series they will reveal who he really is and what he was to the Timelords before he left. But noone knows his name except yeah y'know River and Himself

    I prefer not knowing the Doctors name. It leaves him with an air of mystery. I mean seriously could you see him having his adventures with a name like Joe.
    Plus I've always wondered what the Masters name is?

    various novels and other types of media besides TV use the name"Koschei" for the master...that's all i got, Doc.
