What are your thoughts on the new Doctor, Matt Smith?  Most of us don't like change.  I always have a hard time when one Doctor leaves and regenerates into another.  It's good to keep things fresh.  I just don't like when an incarnation doesn't last too long.  David Tennant really grew on me.  At first, I was a little skeptical, as I am now. 
 
Matt Smith will be playing the eleventh Doctor.  Filming has begun.  Images have already made their way online.  xerox-kitty has posted one image earlier today.  Mail Online has posted some more:

I have a feeling (unless there was a piece of dialogue we missed) that this may be the 12th doctor and there was a doctor before Eccelson and after McGaan that fought in the time war.... 
Saying that, I would hope this would be the Doctor from Trial of a Time Lord that becomes flat-out evil... 
 
When I say "feeling" I think I meant to say "things I would like to happen"
 
Regardless, I'm excited, although it is weird, as G-Man said, that there is a Doctor younger than me.

I'll admit I'm not crazy about him so far but obviously seeing will be believing.  I know my judgment right now is not fair.  That's only because I don't want Tennant to leave just yet.  I'm sure he'll be great.  He wouldn't have been chosen otherwise.

I'm skeptical, if not for Matt Smith, then for the fact that the TARDIS looks too new and clean... she's old, she's litterally been to hell and back repeatedly, she should look at least a little weathered. But yeah, Smith will have to be a damn good actor to change my mind about him... meh, maybe he'll grow on me.

The new companion is a bit of a hottie based on what I've seen so far.

Half the classroom walls had comic/movie/music posters and banners.  I even had comic books on a shelf for the kids to read after finishing a test.  I have a 'video tour' of my room before I quit.  I don't think I ever posted it anywhere though. 

David Tennant left some big shoes for Matt to fill but I believe he will do just fine. All the doctors did, so we shouldn't have anything to worry about.

EVERY new doctor regeneration has pissed me off.  I loved Tom Baker back when I watched it as a little kid on PBS... then some new blonde guy became him and I stopped watching...  The new revamp of the show I loved Chris Ec and was soo pissed that he didn't stay for long.  It took a while for Tennant to sit with me but it only took a few episodes.  Hopefully it'll be the same this time around.  I agree though that I don't like this younger and younger doctor thing.  That's why Chris Ec was perfect, not too old, not a young kid.  They keep this up though they'll have child actors playing the next few doctors!

He's a bit Peter Parker with a little Jimmy Olsen thrown in, but we actually haven't heard him, or seen him act yet so there's no point in criticizing just yet. The red head is cute though, so even if he's no good, we still get something out of this...

Matt Smith was in a recent BBC mini-series called Moses Jones (I think, memory is rubbish this time of morning) and he was a good, solid support/foil for the main protagonist in this racially-centric production (too early to sound pompous, apologies). As a main character I'm not sure if he has the charisma, especially to play the Doctor. As has been said, time will tell. Give him a chance I say

I'm willing to give the 12th Doctor a chance.  I just wish he didn't dress like Professor Jones (i.e. Indiana Jones, when he's teaching).

It is odd to have a young Doctor.  Looks like this one might have some of the quirkyness hes been missing. Tennet was right up on the top for me. Peter Davison was my fav.  I woul dlike to see less of Earth in the show. One reason i didnt really care for the John Pertwee shows.

I think its always tough for a new Doctor to take over, specially with the last one being as popular as David was. I think they key to making a new Doctor work is making him different enough from the past one but having elements from various other doctors over the years.
