for those that know Doctor Who timelines and mythology, you'll know that Time Lords aren't born but are created in Loombs... much like cloning using genetic material of previous Time Lords, hence the connection The Doctor has with The Other...

but back to my main point...

when first created the 'new born' Time Lords are neither male nor female, and their sex is detemined after creation before they begin their regeneration cycle...

now i'm not sure if there is any precident in the Dr Who universe, as much as i've tried to research this fact i have come to a dead end, but i'm wondering if Time Lords change sex during their regeneration much like they can change their outward appearance, as The Doctor himself noted he could become one of any hundreds of species out there... even Ramona tried on several different 'alien species' bodies before settling on the human female body for her second incarnation (played by Lalla Ward)...

I thought was going a completely different way. lol

I've wondered that before also.  He gets a new body.  We don't know for certain if the male Time Lords have the same...stuff as male humans.  Ya never know.

nope... as far as i know, sex has never played a part in Doctor Who...

it might have been mentioned in the Family of Blood storyline during season 3, i'll have to recheck that since he became human for that part of the storyline...

well it stands to reason that some Time Lords have greater control over their regenerations than others do...

for example Romana whi went through 4 different bodies until she picked the one for her second regeneration...

Or The Master who deliberately chose to be 'Young, like The Doctor' in the third series of the new set...

but The Doctor has stated several times that he doesn't know what he is going to get when he regenerates, he even stated to Rose that he could be alien or completely unrecognisable to her...

i do believe it's only their outward appearance that changes though, not their DNA or internal organs, this was shown during the 8th Doctor's regeneration when he became half human but still had a bibulminary system and still had his Time Lord powers...

I believe the term you may be looking for regarding the Doctor is Asexual. That would be alot closer to their method of reproduction

No female Doctor.. I mean that would be scary and I dont think I'd be as pleased. Unless they got someone who could really play the manuerisims. But it would be such a shock for people since the last two incarnations have been male (as well as all teh incarnations that I have seen)

so, Bisexual literally as in two sexes...

TimeLords can change sex remember the episode The Doctor's Wife, though I'm not sure if it counts towards all the continuity but one of the distress boxes that was sent to the Doctor by House was that of The Corsair. The Doctor explained that one time The Corsair was a female and that she was a bad bad girl, insinuating that they had some sort of relationship. So this shows that they can change sex during a regeneration.

In theory, yes, The Doctor could end up regenerating into a woman. (If you notice, 11 even thought he WAS a girl for a moment when he discovered his long hair). Matt Smith has stated that he thinks it would be brilliant if The Doctor eventually regenerated into a woman. and even suggested Charlize Theron.
