The Doctor is nearing to his last incarnation and I was wondering what you all thought of my idea for what they could do (not that they would do this but whatever). Also what are any of your ideas for they could do and what you think they will do.

    This is the idea:

In the Doctor’s last incarnation he is called by an organisation that worked similar to a cult to time lords, they believed time lords were the master race, the pinnacle of scientific and cultural perfection and they wished to resurrect them. They scoured the universe for time lord remains, finding a handful. Using the DNA of dead time lords through time they made hundreds of new time lords, effectively downloading them with scientific and cultural knowledge to be ready to be adult time lords. They are also downloaded with knowledge of the doctor the organisation learned about while searching out time lord stuff, they did this because the doctor would be a great cultural hero to inspire the new time lords.

They also devised other sub-projects made to protect the new time lords and help recreate their society. One such project being a process that would regenerate a dying time lord fully so that they regained all their regenerations and be young by time lord standards though a side effect of the project is memory loss which they haven’t been able to fix. This organisation called the doctor using recreated time lord technology and wanted his help in recreating time lord civilisation.

In this time the Daleks had discovered this organisation and upon finding they set an attack to stop their greatest group enemy from returning, in the chaos only one individual survives, a young time lord with virtually no memory of his origin apart from the odd flashes of memory every now and again. This time lord leaves the ruins of the organisation’s facility, with no memory of how he got there or who he is, he gets a flash of memory, of a man called the doctor, he doesn’t know who the doctor is but he needs a name and decides the doctor is a suitable name (though he may not entirely understand its significance or why he chose it), he then finds the TARDIS, not knowing what it is he goes inside to discover its bigger on the inside which shocks him just like it had all the doctor’s companions.

He goes in, looks around the control room and sees its some sort of ship, while here the TARDIS produces a sonic screwdriver (though the doctor doesn’t know why or how). He could discover objects from different parts of history (things he recognises either because he’s a test tube time lord all of whom were being downloaded with information pertaining to history and science and other such things or because he’s the doctor and has fragmented memory of them), he thinks it odd these things seem so new, he then discovers the doctor’s diary which upon reading he gets more memories though again their source isn’t clear. He recalls the ship has no owner though he doesn’t know if the owner is dead or off he/she abandoned the ship, he also remembers the name of the ship he’s in is the TARDIS- Time And Relative Dimension In Space. He also remembers what the ship can do, which excites him to no end. He decides to try travelling to the past, he chooses 21st century London because it seems like a good idea though he isn’t entirely sure why, there he has a doctor who adventure and meets his first companion.

This doctor could have the intellectual brilliance of the old doctor as well as his confidence and swagger but lacks his experience, maturity and wisdom so he makes some stupid mistakes though he always manages to get out of them. Also because he is young he could more easily have relationships with his young assistants, especially since he may not even know how long he can live because his information download was interrupted. Also because we don't know who he really is it adds even more mystery to the character.

Well, I don't think they'll stop the show. So, they will find a way to continue with the current timeline of the Doctor.

The River Song "Kiss gave regenerations" thing probably gave him a couple. And the Master was able to regen past the limit, it just screwed his body up and forced him to fuse with and subsume another being to stabilize his body. That could be a season long arc, the Doctor trying to find a way to save the person he temporarily bonded with by getting more regenerations.

@lvenger: RTD or Moffat, can't remember which, came out and said that line was a throw away joke line, since the idea is too entrenched in the fan base to ditch. Plus it allows for really interesting plots, with the Doctor searching for a way to prolong his life or avoid getting involved to protect his life.

Then how are they going to make a 13th Doctor? The show is at its peak in popularity so adhering to the old rule would stunt the future series the BBC could put out.

@lvenger: Like I said, River gave the Doctor at least one of her regenerations, probably upwards of 3 or 4, and it's twelve regenerations or 13 Doctors. So we still have one more. On top of that, there's always the very good chance (and something he'd do) of making sure back when he was President of Gallifrey to get some additional regeneration tech and throw it into the TARDIS for a rainy day. There's lots of possibilities.

@the_imperator: He was President of Gallifrey? Did this happen in the comics or the TV show?

The TV episode Invasion of Time, and again (though this time he didn't accept) in The Five Doctors episode.

My knowledge of the original show is unfortunately limited in that regard. Thanks for the clarification!

He'll probably be awarded a whole new set, by the Time Lords, when he finds and releases Gallifrey.
