The Defenders square off against Scorpio’s LMD (Life Model Decoy) army! With the aid of Hulk and Moon Knight, the team manages to free Nighthawk. After destroying Scorpio’s army, the team is horrified to discover that Scorpio has taken his own life!

The Defenders have raided the lair of Scorpio to rescue Nighthawk and Jack Norris only to be confronted by a new Zodiac (LMD team). When Scorpio announces his team he realizes that Virgo, Capricorn and Pisces are missing. He goes to search for them as Hulk, Hellcat, Valkyrie and Moon Knight battle the other members of the Zodiac.

Jack Norris follows the LMD of Nick Fury around trying to understand his actions in the events of the last several issues, not realizing that the Nick LMD is not really Nick Fury (Max Fury). Nighthawk is eventually able to free himself and help the Defenders defeat the Zodiac.

Scorpio (Jacob Fury) finds out that by activating the rest of the Zodiac ahead of schedule he accidentally killed Capricorn, Pisces and Virgo. He retreats to his inner sanctum, where depressed by his continual failures, he takes his own life.

Also includes a "Defenders' Long Island Hang-Out" feature, that maps their "non-headquarters." It is framed by head-shots of previous Defenders, including Howard the Duck, Damien Hellstrom, Namor, Silver Surfer, Luke Cage, Hulk, Yellow Jacket, Red Guardian, Dr. Strange, Daredevil, Hawkeye, and the Thing (none of whom are otherwise in this issue), as well as the current team.
