When the Scarlet Witch depowered most of the world's mutant powers, the mutant energies merged into a collective force. "The Collective" returned to Earth and was absorbed by Michael Pointer. Guided by the will of the disembodied lifeforce of Xorn, Pointer went on a rampage which cost many lives, including Alpha Flight.
Xorn led Pointer with The Collective to Genosha in the hopes of using a depowered Magneto as a host. The Avengers intervened and the Collective energies were destroyed when Sentry threw them into the sun.
The energies in the Collective were immense and vast in scope, including the powers of Magneto, Professor X, Quicksilver, Sunfire and the Xorn brothers - among hundreds (and thousands) of others. Powers displayed included flight, super speed and the ability to grow to a giant size.
