G-Man gave me 5 or 6 issues of The Boys the other day. I read it last night and loved it. This is the type of comicbook that 'I' would like to write. Very smart and very gritty. It's going on my pullist.
The Boys
Team » The Boys appears in 132 issues.
A government sponsored group of Superhuman watchdogs tasked with policing, monitoring, and potentially stopping corrupt superheroes. It's their job to keep Supes in line, by any means necessary.
I read The Boys
And the fact that Darick is such a nice and cool guy makes it all the better. I don't know WFT DC was thinking by canceling it. They were probably too worried about getting letters from angry mommies. At least it's got a new home.
Now when is #7 gonna hit the stands?
Darick also mentioned that there will be a new cover to issue #7. He wanted something more eye-catching than what was originally planned.
I never questioned why DC got rid of them. I always questioned why they'd publish it in the first place. I mean, the same comic company that publishes Superman, the biggest boy scout comic of all time, publishes a comic where an obvious Superman rip-off demands oral pleasure from another hero?
The gerbil made me laugh though.
Yeah. Even though it was through Wildstorm, it was still close to DC. It's like why bother doing this if you're not gonna have the balls to keep putting it out. I could see if sales were low but they weren't. Did they not realize what they were getting with the series? I'm sure it was made perfectly clear.
HAHA! I am such a n00b. I'm wondering to myself why this book has been so late. I had no idea it was canceled which bums me out. But at least it shall be resurrected. Garth Ennis is proving to be a very entertaining fellow!
After some mentions from G-Man I got a few issues of The Boys and it seems very much like Team Achilles to me. Humans with a hatred for super humans and government permission to police and kill them. The Boys has more cursing, sex and British people, but overall I think they're very similar, and not just in the basic premise but in execution as well.
"@Lady Tlieso said:well, that cover is basically all that is happening the entire comic :Pthat's why I was wondering if that's what The Boys is like or not..."" that picture is so wrong, funny but wrong "
Yeah, the actually series is definately worth it. And yeah, that's basically what that mini is about, so don't use that as a basis to judge the actually series is on, the series is more versitile than simple sexual inuendo all the time (though there is that too ;-)
"@Lady Tlieso said:hahaha! no, well, I mean that kind of stuff is happening the entire issue but that's not what is being focused on (the entire time anyway) "" seriously? just an entire comic about that?! o_O "
"@Lady Tlieso said:with Garth Ennis...its quite possible :D ""ah ok, that makes more sense. lol i was having trouble understanding how an could be focused on that only. hehe "
aztek:
The series is much better than Herogasm, I think Herogasm would be kind of hard to fully understand without the full backstory.
My wife just got me vol 1 and 2 of The boys for our anniversary and I just finished #1 it was awesome I loved it and can.t what to read #2
