Book 1: The Regicide last edited by gravenraven on 05/27/23 02:49PM View full history

Amadan, the bastard son of King Magnus of Faerie, procures some human for the desires of the other lords of Faerie who have come together for a celebration. However, there is more going on than meets the eye, as a secret group of lords meets to discuss a coup. Lord Obrey ends up at the meeting but declines to join.

At the carnival, the undefeated troll Sturm kills a human, a new addition to the foes he has fought. King Magnus, at the height of his racism and arrogance, challenges Sturm to a fight and Sturm quickly kills him. The king never established a line of descent to the throne, so a huge controversy now erupts.

Amadan, who can't be king since he was illegitimate, manipulates things to his advantage. He tells Obrey how Magnus discovered Faeries can't have children very easily, and has been breeding them with humans to fix that.

Obrey now finds himself a possible contender for the king, but another option is the child Auberon. Obrey knows the woman, Dymphna, who is the guardian of Auberon. She was a childhood sweetheart of his. He goes and tells Auberon he could be king.
