In this issue the Penguin is given a plan by the Joker that will make the Penguin the most popular man in Gotham City. It works until Batman discovers what has actually been going on. I have to hand it to the books creators. The art and dialogue make this book look and feel like the animated series. You know the god one from the '90s. The art is dead on and is only missing the music to complete the tone. The story on the other hand is good, but just doesn't keep up with the best of the animated...

The Kevin Conroy era of Batman in the Timm-Diniverse started with the horns of Shirley Walker's theme. The episode was On Leather Wings. The three major networks had woken up one morning and decided to ditch children's programming in favor of news programming. Buying your way with stolen money. 2
Just to let know you can read this free on Comixology in their free section. OH the Nostalgia. Batman is important to my generation because of the success of the two Tim Burton movies and the animated series. This comic was a comic that help shape my understanding of comics. Local Toronto artist Ty Templeton provided a very clear visual narrative with his page layouts and writer Kelly Puckett delivered a dialogue that made me want to broaden my vocabulary with Penguin's gentle lessons.
