I also forgot to add: They also need to make a DARK KNIGHT PRESENTS movie line where they introduce secondary Batman characters that deserve their own stories but will potentially never get their own movies. Like Nightwing, Azrael, and the Birds of Prey.

@midnightmare: i agree with u on everything but the Waller point.. she has everything to do with every major DC player.. yes shes sort of a Nick Fury esue role here.. but thats because checkmate are kindof the DC SHIELD.. i think that was an attempt at tying certain elements together so if anyone else made a movie say Flash WW etc she could pop up in it easily tying all the loose strings of the DC universe together.. without making it overly obvious

Its a funny situation...Marvel can't match DC animations shows and movies while DC hasnt the level of Marvel's movies (excepted some Batman movies)

I've have to agree, Marvel was very smart on making separate movies and then connecting them. In this movie, we can skip the origin stories because they have already been told and just jump into the story at hand.

If there is going to be a Justice League movie (which hopefully there will be someday), they should do the same. But my fear is, since The Avengers is doing so well that DC will jump to make a Justice League movie & that would be just a horrible idea.

I want a JL movie, but it needs to have a GOOD script, a writer who KNOWS JL, and it needs good casting, good plot, etc. They should just have Bruce Timm & his team make a live action JL movie:)

@The Stegman: I like your points, particularly the one about WW, but I don't think that the general public knows enough about the Martian Manhunter to garner attention to successfully launch a movie based on the character. As for Flash, after that *ahem* 90s show flop it may prove difficult to restore faith in the character for the non comic viewers. Then again, The Incredible Hulk did do a good job of helping ease the pain of Hulk so you never know.

The Avengers in the movie are very loyal to ther comic counterparts PHYSICALLY and in Personality that along with a well balanced of humor that match their character background.

Very imporrtant they respected each character giving them their own place and importance in the team, although personally perceived more emphasis to Iron Man which does not bother me at all.

Answering to the guy above me: Icon

You have said it so. it was not to decipher the Mayan Codex or the Bible to do what is the most logic to be done in this genre but to respect and give in this movies primary thefirst the essence of which is to treat a superhero movie, because in the end at this point no one invests in a movie of a genre that is not of interest. Why distance of the obvious objective.

Marvel has done it betternot only because they have made more movies of marvel character they learn of their mistakes AND represent the character as the comic, simply have done better than DC.

    Instead look DC

    Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan

and Tom Hardy as Bane (Im not seeing DC learning how to mantain good movies of their characters

I understand you're excited about this, but you're loosing hindsight of the broad spectrum.

The Avengers comics wouldn't exist without the JLA. The Avengers movie wouldn't exist without DC's/Warner Brothers first launching the genre into the modern age with Richard Donner's Superman & 1989's Batman. Richard Donner Produced The X-men, which by the way was a Super Hero team that actually worked well as a movie. Thor, Iron-Man, Captain America, all walked the middle of the road, and didn't do anything outstanding Film-Wise the way Star Wars, Alien, Blade Runner, T2, Matrix all have done. You're acting like a group of super heroes has never worked on screen, X-Men, Watchmen, Sin-City (Old Town), Hellboy (It is a team), 300...and the best of all Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There have been great movies before this about Teams of Heroes, and the reason why this is popular already is because 5 movies prior were mangled as promotion for this movie in cross-shaming promotion that made the law preventing a toy company like Hasbro from making cartoons back in the 1980s seem laughable. I'm sorry, but with 5 movies to set up these characters we end up with "catch the football" plot that makes Michael Bay's Transformers Trilogy seem legit and we get 90 minutes of bitchery dialogue as pay off for blowing up Sky Captain's Space Fortress? *facepalm*

I think a JLA Movie can exist without interlocking single-issue films, with a better Director at helm it is possible. Ridley Scott had an amazing group in Black Hawk Down, Miike Takashi killed it with 13 Assassins, Tarantino with Inglorious Basterds did an amazing job, but also and the best example of an ensemble epic - Lord of The Rings. Heck, even the Longest Day managed to have John Wayne, Richard Burton, Sean Connery, Henry Fonda and Paul Anka in one epic movie without pandering to any ego and that was back in the early 60s. Besides, the whole point of a hero movie is to inspire, not to sell underwear with stupid Mickey Mouse's face on it. The Xmen inspired me to tolerance, Spiderman to work harder at being social, Superman to being the best I can, Batman to be social aware, but The Avengers inspired me to see Transformers again.

I think fanatics need to chill out, and besides the only hero that has inspired people lately is our beloved V from the movie V-for Vendetta, just ask anonymous.

I just think that Marvel / DC too need to gave the thanks to X-Men movie and Hugh Jackman Wolverine who make the comic movies a business in this era that start in 2000. Bacause of the sucess of this movie is when the filmcompanies realize that superhores were in peoples mind & milk the cow. Because of this movie the actors realize that to portarit a superhero could catapult their career like Hugh Jackman did.

The X-men movie was the first film to manage to balance the reality aspect to show a world as normal or as the same as we lived with the phantasy-logical conception of human(mutants) with superpowers. Where do you think that Christopher Nolan flag the reality in Batman Trilogy although the last one might end in the lost of purpose.

@Mildor:What's your beef with Tom Hardy? he's leagues better than Reynolds, sorry if he did'nt overkill on the steroids and was'nt born with that elephants disease which Andre and Big Show suffered from.

    @dioramademon said:

I dont think DC could pull off a Justice League movie. The characters are not as recognizable as the marvel ones, and the movies are way below the standard of the marvel movies. I think that The Dark Knight is one of the most over rated films, yes it is brilliant but Christian Bale is a terrible batman. His voice and acting in the films is just bad, the slow turn of Harvey Dent was brilliant but I may get negative views for this but the film only did so well off the back of Heath dying. It had so much more publicity due to him passing, he was the whole film. The Joker overshadowed Batman. In terms of being closest to the comics Tim Burtons Batman and Batman Returns was the best, the sets and style matched the comics and Michael Keaton is the best batman. I dont think that wonder woman would make a good film because the costume would need changing and the fans would go crazy, and the only way it would have been good is to have Joss do it which they turned down. Martian, Flash and grren lantern are just not big enough to warrant a film.

The Avengers is the best comic movie bar none, it destroys The Dark Knight and will be bigger than DKR. Joss created an amazing film which gave decent screen time to all characters, was funny, engaging and had the best action sequences. I have seen it 3 times and am going again. I cant remember the last movie I did that for

First of all Superman,Batman,WW are more recognizable than Marvel guys.

Hearing people talk about how TDK is sooo overrated is more overrated than the movie itself and that's saying something.

imaginarium of doctor parnassus was Ledgers last movie and guess what it was'nt anywhere near TDK nor did he win any Oscars for it.

Tim Burtons Batman was nothing like Batman, neither were Penguin,Joker or Catwoman.Do you even know a thing about Batman?seriously this Burton nostalgia is sickening.

So on one hand you complain about Nolans Batman being too ultra realistic and not being comicbooky and on the other hand you complain about WW being too silly and Flash,GL etc not being good enough to carry their own own movie? make up your mind already.

How do you know Avengers will be bigger than TDKR? it could be true but should'nt you wait and see first?

You see my point and still you ask motives.

Who said something about Tim Burton Batman that was past century.

Im talking what it starts in 2000 actual era. And it begins with X-men movie. And no, Im not contradicting myself you dont see the pattern do you? the secret rhyme

Stay LOYAL to the character in a real environment.

Who said something about steroids, people tend to overestimate reality we live and tend to think we are very far from the fantasy and people do not give credit and dont realize that from this it comes the future of reality.

More like Dark Knight Fall of Grace and I I wish the movie was as good as the title sounds, never mind lets turn the page

Theres alot of material to work with if marvel play the cards wisely as it has been doing. We Could have Moon Knight, Luke Cage, Iron Fist if not individual then at least as a team, Marvel Knights, Civil War, X vs A, House of M, they have hits and hits to choose just need to mantain and remain in the yellow brick road

Agreed that Nolan's Batman movies are FAR and beyond the height of superhero movies, but Batman and Superman are seemingly all DC can pull off cinematically. But that's most likely because those properties are so well known to non-comics fans that any decent writer could write at least a passable script for them. Lesser known characters require someone who knows the material more intimately. Marvel knows this. It's plainly seen from the get go of their film branch. Iron Man? Who besides Marvel fanatics knew who the hell Iron Man was? Green Lantern was more or less a way to test the waters for future ventures into more obscure DC territory and that tanked. Big time. and it's because they outsourced the work that only they themselves could do right. And until they understand that, their lesser properties are going to fail.

I basically agree with with everything you said right here. Marvel knows that they have to get comic writers to write their movies for them. I mean, Thor was written by J. Michael Straczynski, who had one of the most talked about runs on the Thor comic back in 2007. DC needs to learn how to do this. Instead of giving Green Lantern to someone who knew the character and has written his comics like Geoff Johns, DC decided to give the movie over to someone who's credentials included directing Life As we Know It, a romantic comedy that made all other romantic comedies look masculine. I don't think I'll ever understand that..."decision." That makes me think that its not really DC, but more so WB, that has a lot of say over how their movies are made.

@RigorMortis: Hmm. What do you mean by Marvel style?

If its in reference to the fact that Marvel actually employs people from the comics to write the scripts, while DC does not, then you'd be right. For some reason, WB felt it was okay to hand Green Lantern off to someone whose credentials included being the director of Life as We Know It. That, I will never understand. Honestly, Green Lantern wasn't as bad as people were saying it was, but it did suffer from the writer cramming way too much into a limited time period and giving Hal a cliched internal conflict. I'd be up for a reboot, but keep Mark Strong and I'd even say keep Ryan Reynolds, but give the script to a plotter and writer who know the character. Like Geoff Johns maybe or someone else who has actually had a run on the character's title. Same goes for Flash and Wonder Woman. I'd so love to see Azzarello's Wonder Woman brought to the big screen.

And I honestly don't get why Nolan's Batman can't be brought into a Justice League movie. Yeah, he's grounded in realism and people say Nolan's Batman couldn't fit into the larger DCU with all of the fantastical characters like Superman, but...isn't it that way in the comics? To me, the beauty of the DCU has always been that a "low" fantasy character like Batman has been allowed to coexist with "high" fantasy characters like Superman and GL. IMO, you'd just need to tone down some of those "high-fantasy" elements for a movie. One of Green Lantern's weaknesses was that it appeared too cartoonish with all the CGI utilized. I think that could have been fixed if they had changed that by having the Guardians be portrayed by live actors, not done by CGI and had some of the Oan environment actually be real sets, not CGI constructed landscapes. I mean, even in the comics, when a GL appears before the Guardians, they appear in a closed metallic "board-room", not a mountain citadel. It appears that Marvel tends to tone down their fantastical elements from the comics, while DC believes that they should make them more grandiose (at least with GL).

Anyway, I think if Man of Steel is as good as I hope (knock on wood), then DC should really consider combining Nolan's Batman with Nolan and Snyder's Superman. A potential World's Finest movie would be incredible. In conclusion, I'm so pumped to see Avengers, but to be honest I'm more excited for Dark Knight Rises.

I agree with all of it but keep ryan reynolds. Release Ryan to go fix the attrocity of deadpool, and put Nathan Fillion in the role of GL, like they should have from the friggin start.
