    The Avengers are rocked to their core as Captain America leaves the team. Meanwhile, Magneto returns to earth from outer space to lure the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver back into his clutches. Plus, Hercules makes a shocking discovery.

    Magneto and the Toad have been freed form their Island prison by an unwitting Dane Whitman and his experimental Magnetic Enhancing invention. Once they have escaped, they set about reuniting the core of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and use the new magnetic instrument to lure Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to the fortress, where they are quickly subdued!

    Meanwhile , Captain America has decided to leaves the ranks of the Avengers so he can concentrate on being Steve Rogers, Hawkeye and Natasha quarrel, and Hercules has returned home to find Olympus completely deserted!

    A very strong issue 0

    Some 1960s tales have aged badly. Others maintain their charm decades later. This is arguably a very strong issue of the series, with multiple subplots and significant changes.  Subplot #1: The fates of Magneto and Toad. Two members of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants who were abducted by the Stranger in "X-Men" vol. 1 #11 (May, 1965). Magneto had briefly escaped in #16-18  (January-March, 1966), only to be recaptured. Here we find the two mutants living in exile in a barren planetoid. The Strang...
