    Saving Bova

Important: this is the review of issues # 380 to 382 - I have a tendency of following the artists that I admire the most, so that usually ends on me buying all the issues that some pencilers that I like did and Mike Deodato Jr is a great example of this. I first bought this with this feeling, that I´m getting material from a penciler that I cheer, but also because I enjoyed a lot Harras´run in Avengers so I figured it would be good. Unfortunally this arc story wasn´t very interesting or well executed, don´t get me wrong, Deodato delivers great art, despite some inconsistency here and there, but the story, plot, dialogues of Harras and the chemistry between Deodato and Palmer (inker and colorer) really didn´t worked at all. This is a landmark - Deodato´s first issue of Avengers - but other than that there isn´t much to stand for. It´s a beuatiful story, no doubt about it, but it´s not enough to be well recommended. Pietro trying to save his babysitter is very warm and touching, but after reading a couple of pages the mystery behind her illness is quickly unfolded and despite having some good characters - like the Evolutionary and Exodus - the story and the action are just disconnected and the final result is just an average comic book. Also the story behind Hercules´misguided love was boring at it´s genesis and this haven´t changed: it´s still boring. If you are a fan of Deodato I recommend this for collector´s purposes but be aware that this isn´t a great comic book.
