This was the first comic I ever picked up as a kid, and I was blown away. The comic stands independently from the previous issues, and you could just pick it up and go along for the ride. Without needing to read the previous issues you became immediately aware of the situation and the power of the characters. The drama of spider man's life is pictured perfectly, allowing us to feel the loneliness of this misunderstood character; the inner turmoil, the psychological drama, the defeat and experience the final triumphant return of Spidey's bravado. Steve Ditko's dramatic and brutal illustrations ara cinematic in their greatness. Besides a fairly simple story, comes a deluge of cameos: Captain America, Iron Man, the X-men, the FF, Thor. This is Marvel at its most innocent and colorful, and at the verge of maturing. A beautiul moment in comics, a true triumph for the whole industry

Possibly the greatest Annual of them all! Not only does Spidey have to face 6 of his most dangerous opponents, but he comes accross a whole array of guest stars on his way to doing so in this 41 page epic. I guess some sort of morality still existed among the villains of the day as they decide to attack Spidey one by one instead of all at once. The cameo appearances by the whole range of Marvel heroes allowed Stan to point out to the reader where the characters could be found every month (or 2 m...
