Not a great issue...at all.
PLOT:
Mark Waid is a comic book legend and a FANTASTIC writer. However his Spiderman work is like hills and valleys, sometimes it's a peak of great a$$ scripts and sometimes it's valleys of dullness. This is the case of part five and finale to "Origin of the Species" the last arc of Spiderman since he was relaunched for a Brand New Day by the Spiderman Braintrust. Quite frankly I expected so much more, action (the brief, brief action we) got to see was so boring I could not wait to comeback to the baby plot element only to find out: OH MAN THIS WHOLE ARC WAS FOR NOTHING! THE BABY IS NOT NORMAN OSBORN'S WHICH MEANS NO GOBLIN BABY BREEDING! What? Are you kidding me? Mark Waid? Really? What follows is a very unnecessary fight between Doc Ock and The Lizard, Spidey texts MJ and then the issue is done. Oh yeah Harry's a father now. Great storytelling there guys. Dialogue was decent, Mark Waid was lazy and even though initial issues of the arc promised some sort of potential...well this went down the drain in this issue and ALL OF THE OTHERS THAT WERE REALLY BORING. Yeah, I'm sorry just the way it is. The final story arc before the big farewell was...not what I expected at all.
ART:
Art was decent enough, I do hate Paul Azaceta's artwork but I guess after most of the Spiderman writers forcing his art down my throat I barely care this time around. The cover my Marko was AWESOME and probably the best thing about this whole arc.
SO:
Awful lackluster ending. End of story. Borrow this to find out how bunch of Spidey storylines you hated are so much better than this.
