    Review: Amazing Spider-Man #646

Tracking the "goblin baby" to the Lizard's lair, Spidey and Doc Ock must team up to save the child for both of their interests.

    The Good

The real fun of a thriller is the cathartic conclusion when the hero gets his payback and, to that end, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Spidey make a "monkey" out of Doc Ock in such a humiliating fashion. People have had some issues with the art, myself included, but it's really grown on me over the course of this arc. It's unusual, but it gives the roller coaster the right track of intensity, darkness and danger.

    The Bad

Maybe it's because I've never been especially keen on the storylines that brought Menace into the fold of Spider-Man's mythos in the first place, but the surprise about her child's parentage in this seems doesn't sit quite right with the conclusion. While I'm sure Harry would be relieved, I would expect his disgust might outweigh his elation considering there was a strong risk of Norman being the father.

    The Verdict - 4/5

I was fortunate enough to get to read this story arc in sequence and it's delivered on exactly what we hoped Amazing Spider-Man would be when it started coming out bi-monthly. This has been a page-turner with some gasp-inducing cliffhangers and the whole premise of Spidey going through his entire rogue's gallery to protect this baby is so strong, I could even see this standing on its own.

      Not a great issue...at all. 0

Amazing Spiderman Thrice Monthly is coming to an end. No longer will we get mediocre stories while we wait for Joe Kelly or Fred Van Lente and the occasional Mark Waid to write a good two issue arc. Instead we get stuck with Dan Slott, which even though I accept was born to write Spiderman he is most of the times just an average writer. I expect him to redeem himself and make Spiderman awesome again on Big Time but until then...meh. Let's take a look at this issue:  PLOT: Mark Waid is a comic bo...

The Origin of Species ends here! I'll just say it here that I absolutely loved this issue. It was similar to last issue with the amount of action and the pacing, but it is very different.  With almost every villian in Spider-Man's history coming after him andthe baby it comes down to just two villians who cared about it the most. After The Lizard took the baby he has done some tests on him. He was able to find that Norman was not the father. Spidey and Doc Ock race to find Lizard and the...
