I Was Scared & Excited For This 4

Kraven the Hunter. He was pretty much always a lame/cheesy villain until Kraven's Last Hunt. That arc was simply crazy good. He elevated himself fifty times and finally proved himself as a worthy villain for Spider-Man. In the end, he went out with a bang...literally. That was such a powerful story that still stands the test the time. With The Grim Hunt, there's talk of a "resurrection." That's where my fear comes in.  The Good This arc starts off perfectly. We've been reading through The Gaun...

    Grim Hunt finally begins 0

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of Kraven. I mean, he was one of the greatest hunter alive, and yet,  he was afraid of spiders (granted, everyone has his or her own phobia) . Even with Kraven's Last Hunt, I still didn't really like him. It's a great story arc, but I just personally don't like Kraven. His wife and daughter however, has been causing Spider-man's life a living hell than Kraven did with The Gauntlet.  Now The Grim Hunt begins, and finally, we see the Kravinoffs plans unfold and con...

Fantastic Start for "Grim Hunt" 0

Plot & Action: The story doesn't waste any time at all. Spidey's still recovering from his battle with The Lizard and is worn down. He jumps right into battle with the Kravinoffs and knows it'll be Spiders versus Hunters. We get a glimpse at other Spiders including one that meets an unfortunate fate. The book also is accessible for new readers while not slowing down for those who've followed "The Gauntlet." All in all, the story was very entertaining.Character Work: I could do without charac...

    AMAZING SPIDERMAN-MAN #634 0

"The Grim Hunt" part 1. Written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Michael Lark. I could describe this issue with two words: F#@*%n' Awesome!!! This issue was excellent. I do not think this could have been better written or drawn. Kelly writes a fantastic story here, and Lark draws some amazing scenes. This issue starts off pretty fast paced, with Kaine banging on Peter Parker's door, beat the hell out of, warning Peter that "their hunting spiders". Pete takes Kaine inside his apartment to help the clone...

    Dead Spider= ALIVE KRAVEN 1

Cover The cover is perfect and I really love how Spidey looks in this cover. Story Spider-man has swine flu. He gets a knock on the door and it is Kaine. He is covered in blood and he says that they are hunting spiders. Peter puts him in the bathroom but, does not have time to clean up. Arachne is being attacked and they fight the Kraven and his crew.   Kaine is in the bathroom and thinks about what the Kraven said they will not kill him because he is too ugly and he will be the last spider aliv...

    Great start, bad filler. 0

I really enjoyed the main story of this book. It was a breath of fresh air, compared to the last 3 horrid issues. My only gripe is the fact that they jacked up the price to give us some really boring back-up stuff. Marcos Martin is the man, but I'd rather have more of the main story then have it cut off for the filler....

    I have a craving for Craven. 1

Story The Hunt is on! The story starts off with the Cravens standing infront of the tombstone of the most infamous Craven Vladimir. They're plotting a hunt against Spiders. Peter has the SWINE FLU!!! A violent knocking is at the door. At the door is Kaine and he is bleeding and hurt badly. Former Spider Woman Julie has been targeted by Aly and Ana. Spider-Man gets involved and it's a double fight. Peter and Julie get away. Madame Web is consoling  Mattie who is another former Spider Woman. She i...

A grim start for an awesome storyline 0

The Story: The Kraven family starts to move on with their plan and hunt down all the Spider related heroes. A returning cast of a few Spiderman characters, Spiderman finds himself involved in a dangerous event that has him crossing paths with the Kraven family and involved in a situation thats far worse than what he thinks.  The Good:  - The return of a unique Spiderman character that would be involved in the storyline and the return of an old Spiderman villian (which isn't Kraven the Hunter). ...

    This was awesome! 0

Read this last night and felt compelled to tell people to go out and get it then and there but sleep got the better of me!  Anyway if you've been reading ASM recently you're gonna know what's happening Peter is beaten, exhausted and probably wants nothing more than to collapse in a heap and sleep for the next year. He's been in fight after fight recently thanks (at least in part) to the Kravinoffs (spell check!), and now the poor boy has swine flu. So Kaine knocks up on his door this time not to...

    Hunt down this issue! 0

I cannot remember the last time I read an issue of Amazing Spider-Man where I was so engrossed in the story. Sure, "Something Can Stop the Juggernaut" was great, but this? This was phenominal. Michael Lark's art is perfect for such a dark story; I hope to see more Spidey from him in the future. Joe Kelly, while fondly remembered for his run on Deadpool years ago, is beginning to leave a permanent mark upon Spider-Man. These days when I read a new comic, I read it once and maybe skim back for the...

Don't do it Lord Voldemort! 0

Synopsis   Great introduction to the most anticipated arc of this series. Does this mean The Gauntlet is coming to an end? I haven't read Kravens Last Hunt so I'm not 100% up to speed on this hype. I have to say, however, that this is off to a good start and has me hooked already with a few caveats.  The Good  The story. Great plot elements which leads up to the voodoo climax at the end of the issue. This issue is also oversized due to a co-feature on the history of Kraven the Hunter--more on th...

Fantastic start to what looks to be an amazing story arc 0

So here we are at long last! After the awesome lead in arc of The Gauntlet we are launched into the main deal itself: Grim Hunt.  I love this issue, but before I go into it I think it's pertinent to evaluate it as a whole with The Gauntlet lead in. I think there are three elements that are making me love every aspect of this story arc. First is how much history the series has touched and how the writers are integrating that with what has been happening for Spidey in Brand New Day. I liked a lot ...
