The stalker cyborg Midnight is back on the scene, and it’s up to Spider-Man and Darkhawk to thwart his path of destruction! What is the Secret Empire unleashing these strange modes of technological warfare? And will Spidey be able to stop them at the source before more civilians suffer?
The story opens with Midnight (Moon Knight's old sidekick) fighting a group of martial artists in front of the Secret Empire. They have turned him into a cyborg to use as a weapon for their organization. Meanwhile, Peter Parker is with MJ at Aunt May's house and he decides to go for a swing around town. At the same time, Chris Powell (aka Darkhawk) is visiting his father's old police precinct when Midnight bursts through the wall. He is there to free Eliot Franklin (aka Thunderball). Chris changes to Darkhawk and they take the fight outside. Meanwhile, Punisher is questioning a thug in an alley about the Secret Empire. Spidey stumbles upon Darkhawk and Midnight fighting and joins in, but Midnight escapes with Eliot by threatening the lives of a group of spectators.
