AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #11
This classic issue is written by Stan Lee and drawn by Steve Ditko. In this comic we see Doc Ock being released from prison after being captured by Spidey back in issue #3. After being released we get a pretty big surprise. Peter Parker's girlfriend at the time, Betty Brant is the person to pick him up from jail upon his release. Spidey see's all this and puts a spider tracer on Betty's car so he can find them later.(note: this issue actually has the first appearence of the spider tracer) Later on Spidey traces his spider tracer to Philly and finds Betty there. He discovers the reason behind Betty Brant being involved with Dr.Octopus. She had picked up Doc Ock as to help her brother Bennett out of a jam. Doc Ock was to break out Bennett Brant's client Blackie Gaxton. Bennett owed Gaxton alot of money so this was his way to get out of his debt. Doc Ock breaks out Gaxton and they escape to a getaway ship, with Betty and Bennett in tow against their will. But our hero Spider-Man finds the villians. Spidey fights the baddies and trys to save Betty and her brother, but alas Bennett does not survive. He gets shot and killed while Spidey and Gaxton struggle with a gun. Poor Bennett Brant. Spidey takes out Gaxton and his henchmen and then goes after Dr.Octopus. They fight it out but in the end Doc Ock manages to escape to fight another day. In the beginning of this issue we see Spidey deciding to tell Betty that he is Spider-Man, but after what happened to Bennett and Betty blaming Spidey for her brother's death he decides to keep his secret to his self. This is a very good read, and one of my personel favorite Doc Ock appearences. I would def recommend reading this comic. If you do not want to pay a bundle for the original issue you can find this comic reprinted in Marvel Tales or the Essential spider-Man vol.1.
