    Does Whatever A Spider Can

By The Angry Comic Book Critic
Ah the silver age of comic's yes it was a simpler time for comics there were no events or insane retacon's "Cough! One More Day. Cough!" and the D.C and Marvel Universes where becoming much larger worlds so it is with delight that I say that I've begun a new era of reviews the time of my Golden Age reviews is at an end to give way to the Era of Silver age classics so for the rest of the month I'll be doing nothing but reviewing Silver age classics that gave birth to some of today's greatest comic heroes. Today were going to start with the book that I felt was the true beginning of the Silver age of comic and that my friends is "Amazing Spider-man #1".
The Amazing Spider-man was the character that made me decide to collect comics as a hobby it was Daredevil who piked my interest in them but it was Spider-man who sealed the deal and has made me a life long comic fan. Now any spider-man fan worth his salt would give their wisdom teeth to own a copy of the this issue considering in near mint it's worth upwards of forty thousand dollars and honestly it's worth every penny I mean with the writings of Stan Lee the man who almost single handedly gave birth to the classic comic heroes the guy gave us The Hulk, Ironman, The Fantastic Four, Daredevil, The Avengers and of course Spider-man himself. Now I'm a huge fan of Steve Ditko's artwork and this book is no exception now if I ever got the chance to meet Steve Ditko I'd love to see him do his own renditions of Venom and Carnage just to see what they would look like if they had been made in the Silver Age of Comics. Alright let's get into the story now it's pretty interesting his first head lining book Spider-man not only saves a space ship but goes toe to toe with the Fantastic Four and wins but meets the man who would be a pain in the ass all the way today I talking about the thief who stole Hitler's mustache and runs the biggest rag in the Marvel NYC I'm talking about the one the only  J Jonah Jameson!!! Now I've seen a lot of thick headed ass holes over the years but this guy is in measurable even after Spidey Saves his son John from certain death in a malfunctioning space ship he still hates his guts....talk about gratitude. Now there are two stories within this classic comic in the 2nd spidey has his 1s encounter with a super villain I'm talking about of course The Chameleon now for a guy who didn't have any powers at the time of his 1st appearance I have to say he was a pretty credible threat almost gets spidey arrested by disguising himself as the web head to steal some secret documents to sell to the soviet union which he nearly succeeds and Spider-man's victory over him was one of pure luck. Some of you who read silver age spider-man comics may know this but during his earlier apperences Spider-man stories always ended in some monologue about his own self pity now this may make peter parker look like a whiney little bitch but at the end of the day he always got the job done so I respect him for persevering through some serious shit.
I'm the Angry Comic Book Critic Saying the Silver age classics have begun and that The Amazing Spider-man #1 gets a brand spanking new stamp of approval.

This issue features two different story's in one that was promised back in amazing Fantasy #15. These are two great stories that are both entertaining and historically significant. The first story introduces for the very first time the Jameson Family (J. The action of the story begins later as J...

      A Solid Beginning 0

There are two different stories in this book. The first, is the story that sets up the rivalry between Spiderman, and newspaper publisher J. Jonah Jameson. Here Spiderman saves his astronaught son John as his spaceship is going to crash. JJJ feels this takes publicity away from his son, "the real hero" and goes on a crusade to stop Spiderman. The second story is Spiderman Vs. The Chameleon. Realizing Spiderman must be desperate for cash, the Chameleon, poses as Spiderman for some robberies. B...
