    Slott in his element

    Plot

The story takes place when Peter were still "on TV" and show-offing in front of people. He just needs the money, cause he needs to be the man of the house now, that Ben's gone.
While a kid who sees him on the show,is inspired to be a superhero himself.

    Thoughts

    This is where Slott shines!

This takes place, apparently,in the Lee/Ditko era,and Slott is good at writing in this kinda style, and there's nothing to complain, really.
He writes a story at a style he's good at,and hits all the right marks.

    Peter deals with stuff.
Peter is written right.Like he's supposed to.

There's not one quip in there. His uncle died. The closest thing he had to a father, died the previous day. It's written by Slott....and there's not ONE quip in there,i say it again......maybe,just maybe, there's hope on the Spidey front, with Slott in charge...

He takes the responsibility aspect of the famous quote, very seriously.
Peter tries to balance school with the Spidey shows, to get some money in the Parker residence, because the man is gone, and now he has to man-up in a seconds time.....at his 15 years of life.

Aunt May is worried that he skips classes and sets up a meeting with the school phycologist(or something) and, well,Peter kindly dismisses the guy,and keeps doing what he's doing.
At one show, some raizor blades cut some safety ropes and they threaten to demolish the place, and Spidey webs them up and saves s lot of people. That's probably the first time Peter saved a life as Spider-Man.

Now to the interesting aspect of the ish.
A kid called Clayton(??!!) is a fan of Spider-Man ,and has been to every show. He's an outcast at school, and very similar to Peter Parker.....but one detail. His family is crazy rich.
So he desides, like every rational person would do,to become a super-person too,and builds something like a Stark repulsor blastor....(aparently he's smart too) ,makes a black and white Spidey alike suit, and calls himself Clash.
    That should end well......

Art is spectacularly good for this kind of story.Perez captures the spirit of Ditko excellently! ...Love it.

I can't wait to read more quality Spider-Man!

A Blast from the Past! 0

Fans of the Stan Lee/Steve Ditko era are going to get a kick out of this one!Dan Slott and Ramón Perez bring a whole new arc to Peter Parker's "beginner days" in Learning to Crawl, and boy they do not disappoint! This issue takes place literally right after the end of Amazing Fantasy #15 as Peter Parker walks away from the warehouse where he has left Uncle Ben's killer dangling by a pole for the police to catch. Yes, this is legitimately right after Uncle Ben's death.Dan Slott manages to ...
