Each week we like to take a cool comic book collectible, open it up and check out what it's really like. Last weekend was WonderCon 2013. If you watched the OmniWalkthrough video, you know I debated over buying the Marvel Select Thanos figure. It's a solid figure. I've been eyeing it for some time. Surprisingly I found a vendor that had a bunch and was selling them for $20. So of course I did finally buy one.

You can see the figure does come with a second 'figure,' Death. Often the Marvel Select figures come with some sort of background piece. In this case, getting a second figure, even one without any real articulation, was the better move.

This figure may not still be sold in stores (comic shops) but you can still easily find it. Even on eBay, they can be found for around $20. It's definitely worth it. Many of today's regular figures cost close to $20 and this one's massive weight shows you you're getting your money's worth.

Even though Death doesn't have any articulation, she does come with a second face so she can look less Death-like.

If you know Thanos, you know he has deep affections for her. You might even say he luuuuvs her.

Thanos has your basic amount of articulation. Because he's a larger figure, there is a good amount of detail. As I mentioned, he is solid. Marvel Select does a great job with their larger figures. They are heavy. You don't have to worry about them breaking as you move them into different positions.

Thanos also comes with a second hand, one with the Infinity Gauntlet. Every Thanos should come with one. And as you can see below, I have a few different Thanos figures. I guess you could say I kind of like the character.

As I was getting the figures ready for their 'photo-shoot,' one of them landed kind of weird. My daughter decided to put them all in dance positions. I mean, why not?

If you like Thanos, it goes without saying you should pick up this figure. For $20, it's a great deal.

I can't believe your just now finding this figure I've had it in my personal collection for years, and I say that not to gloat but because as a resident of the Bay Area I usually find it harder to locate most figures when not shopping online but this one was actually one of the few my LCS managed to keep on the shelf for awhile. In my honest opinion though I don't see that big of a difference between this and the Marvel Universe Thanos figure, the only advantage this figure has over that is the Mistress Death figure that comes with it, other than that they're pretty much the same except their size.

Why does death hate thanos so much? I don't think it was ever explained.

I used to see this on sale pretty frequently. Good looking figure.

Im just gonna say it... The whole Infinity Gauntlet is stupid (its up there with the ultimate nullifier and the cosmic cube). and the original Infinity Gauntlet story with thanos vs the universe is one of dumbest and embarrassing things marvel has ever published.

I cannot understand why people 1) like the concept of a glove that controls all of reality 2) the obsession to make this concept into the a movie

I love their series of giant action figures. My brother has the Abomination, Juggernaut, and Thanos. I want to get their Colossus, movie Hulk, and their Rhino.

Diamond is re-releasing all the popular select models from years past. That's how I got my Deadpool Select and didn't have to pay $80 for it :) You can tell by the different marvel select logo and the text on the front plastic with the new © year.

I really don't like thanos that much as a villain because all of his actions are just because he loves death.WTF

Cool figure, I think the Marvel Select one is the best of all Thanos figures offered.

Man, really wish I had the cash to blow on this and DC Direct's Darkseid....

This Thanos figure is great; its got a lot of heft and detail for the relatively low price. Death's human mask kind if sucks but I don't use it anyway. Great collection piece.

Are you serious? I just read it for the first time last week and I loved it. Definitely my favorite crossover event of all time.

@novemberx2: They need bigger and badder weapons I guess. Thing about that is after you make one, you need something to out do it, over and over and over....same with character strengths.

@g_man Hey Tony, looks like you did end up buying this Thanos figure at Wondercon as you mentioned you were going to haha. I don't blame you because I couldn't resist myself, I recently picked it up at my local comic shop. Awesome figure, thanks for the "Awesome Toy Picks!" It allows me to see the figure more in depth since I'm one of those collectors who is afraid to open the packaging haha. However, I'm sure once my 15-month-old son is older I think we are going to have a field day and play with a bunch of my unopened action figures. I already notice him eyeing them up lol.
