Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Suffer a Major Tragedy
@ostyo: Damn it Ostyo, this is supposed to be a serious thread!
@ostyo: I can accept that.
@ostyo: I used to eat shredded cheese as a snack food.
You know, I wasn't going to say anything about this, but as I was taking a shower, this was weighing on me heavily. I think this was a poor decision...why kill off Donnie? Aaah....I know. For shock value. To sell comics. Unfortunately, with this move, TMNT has joined other mainstream comics and they're now in the category of "let's kill a major character and bring him back to life later on".
This was not necessary. I always felt that Donnie could be the Batman of the group (and nope, not Raph or Leo guys, sorry). Donnie is the brains of the group. He produces all of their gadgets, weapons, toys, and vehicles. Also, he's a ninja and if he REALLY wanted to be a full on lethal weapon, he could be on the same level as Batman, with his intelligence. So, imagine my disappointment when I read that Bebop and Rocksteady kill off Donnie! I mean, REALLY?? I can't fathom that.
Although Donnie is not the strongest turtle, he is the smartest. I feel he could have used aikido, judo, locks, holds, etc. against these two. I can't suspend my disbelief that these two could get the upper hand on him. Donnie's too smart for that!!
IDW could have done something better like packaging the comics with mini toys or something. Not this cliched "a hero will die in this issue" routine. Anyway, I have to get off my soapbox. I'm sure Donnie will be back about 6 months to a year from now.

Spoiler from beyond this issue. Don't say I didn't warn you!
About a month or so ago (maybe more), Diamond accidentally leaked the wrong pages of the Free Comic Book Day issue of the series. According to Splinter's narration, Don's soul is "trapped in a machine" whilst he cares for his body. It's entirely likely they've put him in Metalhead or one of Harold's computers or something.
Sounds incredibly stupid
I think Splinter is talking about Donny being on life support.
@albusan: now I'm sad :'(
@nightfang: Edited your post so the image is now in a spoiler block...
i hated this issue. not just for that horrible ending (it broke my heart to see donatello brutilized as such) but the whole of the issue save for the donatello parts were kinda boring. yes we got some progression here and there but he was the spotlight and rest of the issue didnt add anything to what could have been a great and impactful moment of his life. they should split this issue up into two parts that way to focus more on donatello and build to his "death" with no cutscenes
Donnie...? NOOOOOOO.....
I hope Raph tears them apart. He cna miraculosly make a face of rage and sadness at the same time.

Suddenly Bebop and Rocksteady are my least favorite characters and I wan't them killed off.
^^^^
Donnie is my favorite Ninja Turtle too... sadness...
Noooo!! Why my Donnie! Poor baby! Raph will not rest until he destroyed Bebop and Rocksteady. When I saw this issue I was shocked and almost cried to see my favorite turtle boy horribly beaten and in a pool of blood. I like his siblings, too, but l have loved Donnie since original series.

I would think in indie comics characters pretty much stay dead.
Oh snap! You went there...
@terry2012: Shenmue All The Way.

Exactly. I am still waiting for part three. They cannot end it like that.

Thanks I tried to do it myself, but I kept getting errors.
I normally read through TMNT so fast because of how gripping it is, but I found myself going slower and slower as this fight happened and especially afterwards. I still can't believe they did this...even if it doesn't stick it still was amazingly emotional. Don isn't even my favorite turtle, but Bebop and Rocksteady are going to pay for this, I can't wait to see how they go down.
That was a brutal beating. My how the turtles have certainly grown up since the cartoons I remember from my childhood. I will be drinking a beer for Donnie.
I am totally o.k with this, even if Donatello stays dead (he won't be if he did I'd be fine about it). This is a great opportunity to take the series in a good direction where being a hero/protagonist does not entitle you to live if you face two opponents that completely outclass you. It's been thoroughly established in City War that Bebop and Rocksteady are ridiculously powerful proving capable of taking on all the turtles at once with splinter and some tech help. Seriously what else was supposed to happen in any verisimilitude? By all rights Donnie got off easy, Rocksteady could have cracked his shell open like a peanut.
@squalleon: SHUT UP! Donatello is the brains of the group. He is indispensable. After all, Bebop and Rocksteady could have hurt any of them.
appreciate the spoiler warning. Goddamn cinemablend put it right in the title and the spoiler couldnt be avoided. other sites could learn a thing or two from comicvine.

That doesn't detract from the fact that he is usually the turtle the writers care the least for.
People getting all up in arms about the comics killing a major character, saying they're all mainstream now. Boo-hoo. People, even turtle people, die. It's what they do. Anyway, it's not like we've haven't seen characters recover from worse.
I'm more interested in how the others are going to respond to this. The turtles may have always been down one in their fights against Bebop and Rocksteady, but they've had plenty of help and still been clobbered by the brutes. It'll be interesting to see how they respond to the maiming of their brother.
Also, Bebop and Rocksteady are still my favorite characters.
I refuse to believe this. It DiDNT HAPPEN!!!!
Just kidding. It totally happened and I'm not broken up about it. I probably will once I get around to reading it.
From the look on Raph's face I can tell the next issue won't be very pleasant for Bebop and Rocksteady..
Gotta say I didn't see this coming, though I did just jump on the series. Regardless it just feels weird to see any of the Turtles come so close to death. I would have preferred if a less central character was actually killed off in some ways; at least a death like that could stick. Regardless this issue certainly tugged at my heart strings. I am looking forward to seeing the payback Beebop and Rocksteady receive.
@smoking_gun: Me, too. They deserved to be punished for harming Donnie in that hideous way.
Hate to see a ninja turtle go down like that. I would prefer if one did it were in a good showing to a worthy opponent like shredder. Don't get me wrong I know Beebop & Rocksteady & really strong I just feel like Donatello could of just hit the lights in the place & the 2 would of beat each other up. They are that stupid & he is that smart & it's the ninja thing to do.
I do know why they choose Donatello though. They figure he loves & uses machines so much It would make sense & still be him if his consciousness were inside one or if he became a cyborg. It would make him more powerful even. Watch out Beebop & Rocksteady
