    Origin

    Project: Halperin developed a chemical called "Lazarus Resin" that they injected into homicidal metahumans brought back from the dead against their will to be used as undead weapons. These weapons had diminished cognitive abilities and minor cannibalistic tendencies. As such, Jason Todd was captured and forced to be team leader.

    Creation

    Task Force Z debuted in a Detective Comic #1043, at the conclusion of a backup story arc where Deb Donovan was investigating them. The name is a take on The Suicide Squad's real title, Task Force X, but with a Z for zombies.
