Two inseparable friends, fresh from the school of the air, appeared in PILOTE from its first issue in 1959. They were the future commanders Michel Tanguy and Ernest Laverdure. As much as the first is courageous and serious, the second is eccentric, boastful and inclined to play the pretty heart. Yet, despite his many blunders, Laverdure is a solid teammate for Tanguy who often finds himself in difficult situations.
