    When Ray Palmer catches his wife in the arms of another man, he leaves behind the world of man and enters a realm undreamed of. Shrinking down, the Mighty Mite discovers that the world is a very different place when seen from a different point of view.

    The Atom is having problems at home with his wife Jean Loring. He ends up catching her kissing another man in the drive way of their car.

    Disgusted with each other the Atom leaves for Brazil to find a White Dwarf Star stone.

    While in Brazil, the Atom is attacked in midair by by two criminals. Taking the Atom for dead one of the criminals takes the Atom's ring. The Atom shrinks down in size and takes on the two crminals who end up dying and crashing the plane. As soon as the Atom recovers from the crash he realizes that he is permanently six inches tall as he became that height to fight the criminals but has no way of changing himself back.

    Before the Atom is able to figure out what to do he is attacked by a large snake and is captured by some Boundsmen from the city of Morlaidn. Unable to really understand the language the Atom struggles between knowing what is right and not and his hunches leads him and a man named Taren to be released into a room full of Giant Rats.

    Jean Loring receives a phone call from the Brazilian authorities informing her of the crash and that they found a ring on one of the bodies with an inscription linking the ring to Ray Palmer.

    This is an interesting concept for a miniseries, and stands as a sort of anachronism.  At the time at both DC and Marvel, fantasy barbarian elements were popular (with the likes of Travis Morgan, Ka-Zar and Conan) and it appears as though DC was keen to get Atom on this bandwagon as well seeing as the character is one which generally has a hard time holding his own series.  So Ray discovers Jean is having an affair and decides to head to the Amazon rainforest for a break from his marriage.  He i...

    The year was 1983! DC would actually come out saying a certain series would be mini-series or maxi-series instead of just cancelling suddenly, DC gets the Charlton heroes, Jason Todd dons the Robin suit and becomes everyone's favorite Robin, and Adventure Comics (the comic home of the original Superboy, Legion of Superheroes, Green Arrow, and Aquaman) gets cancelled.     I was not a big fan of this book right off the bat. It starts with an “almost” affair were Atom finds Jean Loring making out with another guy in the drive way of their home of all places. I like heroic cool heroes who are people I would like to imagine being, not a dude who's wife is cheating on him. I know she didn't really do the deep so to speak but it was rather classless and poorly conceived by Jean and perhaps the writer. Now after catching his with making out with another man Atom do...
