Giant Hogweed
A good writer is, above all, someone that makes me connect with the character, that, with words, transfers me to the place, both physical and emotional, that the character is living, and Snyder is doing a terrific job here in Swamp Thing. Only now that the character is fully receptive to his real purpose as the savior of the Green, he must leave this place of power and embark in a journey to save the world and his love. His rage, fear, bravery and love, Snyder transmits this all. Differently of Animal Man #14, that only was really good in the end, this issue was awesome from page one, where Alec is getting his grips with this new reality and fighting the New/Teen Titans of the Rot, to the last, where we see Willian Arcane in his true potential (perhaps one of the best scnes of the year, in my opinion), and I think this happened not only because of the pace of the story (way faster), but because Snyder didn't had to deal with several characters as Lemire did: basically there're only Alec, Deadman and Abigail in this issue, what make things easier to control. Swamp Thing's journey is also dreadful but (I don't know if this is a Tom Sawyer thing) it was way pleasenter and interesting than Buddy's. Also, it helps a lot seeing Yanick Paquete back in the title, his art is totally fitting to the mood of this book!
