For the new arc of Swamp Thing, Scott Snyder begins with an homage to the classic Alan Moore run, both in it's art and it's writing. The results are in my opinion spectacular, though I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a few hiccups. It's difficult to talk the story without mentioning the art, and vice versa, since both are so intertwined that if one went without the other, this issue would just fail horribly. Francesco Francavilla really plays to Snyder's strength in crafting a very uncomfortabl...

If you would have told me at the launch of the "New 52" that I would be racing Swamp Thing, I would have told you to take a hike. I was never interested in him, but that probably has much to do with me being a teenager in the 90's and subjected to terrible comics. That being said, ten issues in and I am utterly speechless at what Snyder has done. What a fantastic series and issue ten just keeps pace with the rest. The art change is nice and although I miss Paquette's art this seemed fitting for t...

    Beauty & the Beast 0

After the chaos at the Bone Kingdom in the previous issue, Scott Snyder puts the brakes on in issue ten and allows for a more sombre tone to explore the blooming relationship between Alec and Abigail, a reminder that Swamp Thing is as much a love tale as it is a gruelling, horror story.Swampy is drained and weak from his confrontation with Sethe in the last arc and in this issue we see Abigail nursing him to health. Her compassion and understanding shines through her character and Alec, despite ...

    Beautiful Death 1

So, for starters, I hate the cover of this issue. The Swamp Thing covers have generally been outstanding, but this one is a huge miss. There's just so little to it. Swamp Thing and Anton Arcane are wrestling and taking up all the space. There's a bit of a background, but overall it's pretty boring. Not to mention that the posing feels incredibly wooded and static. There's no sense of motion, I feel like I'm looking at a picture of a figurine or something... OH WAIT. I see. It's a tribute cover.....

    Amazing Arcane! 0

THE GOOD: I love the art in this issue. There is different artist and it's a very different style, but I really like it. Francesco Francavilla is an amazing artist and he can make things look very creepy. I love the opening and it definitely sets the tone for the whole issue. I also really like the colors in this issue as well. The story is as good as they come. We get to see Swamp Thing and Abby and it's really sweet but things quickly get dark and bloody. I really like how it starts off in the...

Anton Arcane here to creep you out! 0

Now I know I said I started in issue 12 but I saw these in my comic shop and decided what the hell Swamp-thing is one of my favourite DC characters and Anton Arcane is one of the best villains around so I bought issues 10 and 11 (11 I should have a review up tomorrowThe GoodThis issue is really dark Swamp-thing is generally very dark but this is never happy there is not a single shred of happiness in this book it's just Dark. This issue continues from the last with Swamp-thing very badly injured...
