Suyin Beifong is the daughter of Toph Beifong, and Lin's younger, half-sister. She likes to be called 'Su'. She is the matriarch, leader, and founder of the incredible metal bending city known as Zaofu. Su is an earthbender who specializes in metalbending, in which she is very powerful and skilled. Also she is an elegant, skilled and nimble dancer. Su is a proud mother of five children, Baatar Jr., Huan, Opal and the twins, Wei and Wing. Her husband, Baatar Sr., is a brilliant architect, who helped her create Zaofu. She is carefree, a great leader, loving and passionate. She looks for the potential in everyone and encourages creativity.
Ruins of the Empire: Part One

Su is with her family in the gallery of the courtroom watching Kuvira stand trial for her crimes against peace, wars of aggression, inhumane prison camps, invasion and wielding weapons of mass destruction. Kuvira pleads not guilty. Su confronts her after outside the courtroom as she is being led out by security. Suyin says the whole world knows what Kuvira did, and she is still upset with her for trying to destroy Zaofu and killing her son. Kuvira pleads with her and apologizes but Su says sorry is not enough, and that Kuvira needs to take responsibility for what she did.
Ruin of the Empire: Part Two

We see a flashback where Kuviras parents give her up to Suyin Beifong. They can't handle Kuvira, expressing how they can’t get though to her and that she is just to difficult. They hope Su can knock some sense into her. Su is friendly and gentle, she offers her a safe home and, in a sense, becomes her adoptive mother.
Kuvira, now on the run from Gaun, is desperate and needs help. She calls out to Su for aid. Su is hesitant at first but decides to help. Opal questions why she didn’t just send Metal Clan soldiers, but Su feels the need to do it herself. After a brief battle against Gaun and his brainwashed army, she saves Kuvira and the Krew and they escape on her airship. She ops against her sons requests and does not to keep her restrained aboard, feeling Kuvira is not a flight risk.
