    History

    As a member of The Hand of God, he worked for the Vatican for protecting the Catholic Church from super-powered threats.
     
    He was contacted and marked by Ray Palmer, a.k.a. The Atom.
     
    After that, Surge became corrupted as he was paid to turn on his own team and kill the Pope. When he succeeded, he was on the run. Midnighter caught up to him in San Diego and killed him in front of the Challengers from Beyond.
