    Superman

Character » Superman appears in 18941 issues.

Sent to Earth as an infant from the dying planet Krypton, Kal-El was adopted by the loving Kent family and raised in America's heartland as Clark Kent. The concepts are fine. The problem tends to be that, with a few exceptions, there isn't an interesting contrast with Supes.

Some are just there for Superman to punch, which isn't a bad thing, but they can't write a movie around them.

But he definitely has a deep enough Rogue's gallery that us only seeing Luthor and Zodd in the movies after almost 80 years is a travesty. I think Mxyzptlk would be a brilliant round villain in a film if they could get past the visual problem.

So are Batman's villains, and basically every other super-hero's.

I think it could work after you build up Superman more. I think it'd be cool though. I'm more down for a film featuring Manchester Black.

@scott_summers52: I think that's the point. They aren't more complex conceptually, so there's no inherent reason for Batman rogues to be more adaptable than Superman ones.

And Harvey Dent isn't bipolar. Despite what his gimmick and even the narration might tell you.

@quinlan58: The bipolar remark was a joke, just like the "big zombie."

It sounds to me that the person who made this thread was attempting to criticize Superman's villains as being simple and therefore good for marketing. I was retorting by pointing out that Batman, a character regarded as having the best villains, can also have his foes described in a sentence. Get it
