I know the red underwear on the outside doesn't have a cultural foothold anymore, but it made more sense with the belt. Now he just has a rope (if you will) wrapped around his body for no reason...

Since the yellow has been phased out of his costume, in an attempt to bring it back, I would suggest the following designs

Original Superman design

Yellow belt sans red underwear, with red belt loops

Yellow belt with blue belt loops and a red belt buckle

And since the DC people love the red belt so much, here's a red belt with blue belt loops and a yellow belt buckle

Hopefully somebody that can draw better than 8-bit can help out with the visuals. But seriously, give the belt a purpose...

Without a proper solid belt, the suit looks like a onesie. That (along with the stupid blue boots) were my biggest problem with the first Rebirth suit. If there were a few more lines (though not as much as n52 suit) it might alleviate the issue with the solid blue throughout.

I still think Kal should have a championship styled belt that's red with a golden S for it's buckle. It breaks up the blue, it hold thematic elements, Kal being's Earth championship, and it doesn't have to be subjected to practicability like a normal size belt would.

I liked the underwear on the outside. It was an interesting part of Superhero culture that most heroes had. now I feel like people in charge of designing costumes for comic heroes feel a little pressured by the outside world to take all of it out.

Really all I'm asking for is belt loops.

However many ways it can be interpreted. Having the shirt and pants be 2 separate parts, or having it just be a jumpsuit with a belt comparable to what a trench coat would have. Either way or any way.

The Championship belt interpretation was interesting, though.

They should get rid of the undewear but have a solid yellow belt over the costume.

The belt is holding up the lower portion of his costume. You know, like belts do.

Man of Steel may be my favorite example (specifically of the belt), because it's designed into the costume, thus not holding anything up.
